A process for producing unscorched, binder-free, granulated hexabromocyclododecane which exhibits enhanced compaction efficiency and friability, said process comprising the following steps: (a) feeding a binder-free hexabromocyclododecane powder to a set of heated compaction rollers to effect the formation of a hexabromocyclododecane compacted material, the rollers having been heated to a temperature from about 35°C. to about 150°C. which is in excess of the fed hexabromocyclododecane powder temperature such that the compaction efficiency is increased by at least 10 percent over that obtained with non-heated compaction rollers, and wherein the compaction step is performed without scorching the compacted material; and (b) granulating the compacted material to produce. granules which have a friability loss of less than about 10 percent.
