A method for controlling vapor emissions from a tank containing volatile liquid, said tank having a vent system for releasing said vapor emissions from said tank, said method comprising: (a) providing a spiral-wound membrane module having a feed side, a permeate side, and a permeate collection pipe having two ends and perforations through which gas can pass from said permeate channel into said permeate pipe, said module being adapted by providing one or more feed-side baffles aligned substantially lengthwise with respect to said module, thereby forming a feed channel divided into at least two segments connected in series, through which gas flows sequentially as it passes along said feed channel, said feed side of said module being connected to said vent system; (b) passing a raw vent gas comprising said vapor emissions across said feed side; (c) withdrawing from said feed side a treated vent gas depleted in vapor compared with said raw vent gas; (d) withdrawing from said permeate side a permeate enriched in vapor compared with said raw vent gas; (e) returning said permeate to said tank.
