The improved handle is useable to facilitate carrying a bag having one or more flexible top straps. The handle includes a shell of relatively inflexible durable material, such as wood, metal or plastic. The shell is generally elongated and tubular with a central hollow bag strap-receiving space. The shell has open opposite ends and is divided into two mating shell parts extending the length of the shell.
