A retractable bicycle rack is described having a movable portion and a fixed portion. The fixed portion is attached to an overhead member such as those found in an automobile garage. The movable portion, when moved from the horizontal position to the vertical position activates compression springs attached between the movable portion and the fixed portion tithe frame.
