This invention relates to phosphorescent, polymer-containing compositions for use in Glow In The Dark shoe soles, and other molded or extruded shoe parts made from such compositions. This invention relates to phosphorescent, polymer-containing compositions for use in Glow In The Dark shoe soles, and other molded or extruded shoe parts made from such compositions. One aspect of this invention is directed to a polymeric composition comprising between about 40-50% by weight rubber; 5-10% by weight processing oil; 0-5% by weight stabilizer; and 3-8% by weight phosphorescent material. A sole made according to the present invention for a children's athletic shoe comprises a mass of sole-forming phosphorescent material having peripheral edges and a cushioning element. The `Glow In The Dark` portion of the shoe being visible on both the peripheral edges and underneath surface.
