[ We claim:] [1.] A method of making rapidly soluble tablets comprising the steps of:a) combining, in substantially dry form, components comprising a diluent, an amount of binder sufficient to increase the hardness of the tablets formed to acceptable levels; an amount of an active agent such that each tablet formed contains an effective amount of the active agent, and an amount of volatile salt effective to decrease the weight and increase the surface area of the tablet formed volatilized;b) processing the product of step a) to form a substantially homogeneous mixture;c) forming tablets from the mixture of step b); andd) volatilizing the volatile salt from the tablets.
