[ What is claimed is:] [1.] A curable coating composition comprising(A) a multi-functional compound comprising(1) at least one carbamate functional group having the structure [ STR 6 ] or urea functional group having the structure [ STR 7 ] wherein R, R', and R" each independently represent H or alkyl or R' and R" together form a heterocyclic ring structure,(2) at least one other functional group which may or may not be carbamate or urea, and(3) at least one hydrogen bond acceptor group that is not also a hydrogen bond donor group, wherein said hydrogen bond acceptor group is selected from the group consisting of esters, ethers, ketones, carbonates, tertiary amines, thiones, sulfones, tertiary amides, sulfides, polyesters, polyethers, polycarbonates, and mixtures thereof, with the proviso that said multi-functional compound is other than an acrylic polymer or oligomer having carbamate functional or urea groups appended to the acrylic backbone through acrylic ester side chains, a polyester polymer or oligomer that is the polycondensation reaction product of a polyol and a polyacid component, or a polyurethane that is the reaction product of a polyisocyanate component and a polyester polyol component, and(B) a curing agent comprising a plurality of groups that are reactive with the functional groups on compound (A).
