A method for coating a substrate having a plurality of channels with a coating media in which the substrate is partially immersed into a vessel containing a bath of the coating media with the volume of coating media lying above the end of the immersed substrate being sufficient to coat the substrate to a desired level. A vacuum is then applied to the partially immersed substrate at an intensity and time sufficient to draw the coating media upwardly from the bath into each of the channels to form a uniform coating profile therein.

[ What is claimed is:] [1.] Method for coating a substrate having a plurality of channels with a coating media comprising:a) partially immersing the substrate into a vessel containing a bath of the coating media, said vessel containing an amount of coating media in excess of the amount sufficient to coat the substrate to a desired level;b) applying a vacuum to the partially immersed substrate at an intensity and a time sufficient to draw the coating media upwardly from the bath into each of the channels for a distance which is less than the length of the channels to form a uniform coating profile therein; andc) removing the substrate from the bath.
