A CD package has a plastic tray with a central recess for receiving an holding a compact disc. Downward extensions on sides of the tray have inward projecting rails. A paper board has two panels and an intermediate spine separated by creases. One of the panel forms a base for permanent attachment to the tray. The base has side edges with recesses which cooperate with the downward extensions.
