In an arrangement for cooling an X-ray tube mounted on the gantry of a CT system, a path of flow is established by means of conduits or the like for circulating a cooling fluid between the tube and a heat exchanger. As fluid passes through the heat exchanger, a stream of air is applied to the path of flow, by means of a radial fan, to carry heat away from the fluid.
