The sealing ring includes a brush wiping flange that has an outer flange edge that defines an opening through which the paint brush can be loaded with paint when the sealing flange is installed. The sealing ring is adapted such that the lid of the paint can is seatable, in an upside down orientation, onto the sealing ring to cover the opening through the sealing ring to seal the paint can.
