A cover for an ultrasound probe is cup shaped and has an opening in the cup base. The cover is configured to fit onto the probe and maintain the cover on the probe with the cup base being a selected distance from the probe base to define a volume between the probe base and the cup base. A pliable, sound conductive membrane is attached to the cup adjacent the base and covers the opening.
