The method includes positioning the carpet between a pair of mold halves, extruding a hollow, substantially tubular plastic between the mold halves, blowing air into an open end of the tubular plastic, bringing the mold halves toward each other, and blowing air through needle holes in one of the mold halves to force the plastic against the mold and the carpet. An apparatus for practicing this method, and a product made by the method, are also included.
