A system and method for interconverting moving fluid power and electrical power involves an aerodynamic rotor integrated with an electric rotor without an interconnecting rotating shaft.

[ I claim:] [1.] A system for converting wind power to electrical power comprisingan elongate, unitary revolution structure having a long axis, a rotational axis which is coincident with said long axis, and a peripheral region which is spaced from said long and rotational axes,said revolution structure being rotatable about said rotational axis in response to incident wind, and including, adjacent one end thereof, a rotary, aerodynamic air-foil assembly for responding directly to incident wind to produce such rotation, and adjacent the other end thereof, an axially offset electromagnetic generator rotor joined generally within the mentioned peripheral region to said air-foil assembly for rotation as a unit with the same, operable, in response to rotation produced by said air-foil assembly, to effect the generation of electrical power.
