A bifurcated annular rim is molded at the top end of the container'side wall, the rim comprising outer and inner rim sections that are joined to one another at their bottom ends so as to define an annular locking channel, with the inner rim section extending inwardly of the side wall. The lid is formed with an annular rib having first and second mutually spaced leg sections that are movable toward one another under radial compression far enough to allow the rib to be inserted into the locking channel of the rim so as to releasably lock the lid to the container.
