A combination liquid or slush carbon dioxide system, which receives warm carbon dioxide and then cools it to -69.degree. F. before use, making carbon dioxide slush. The percentage of solid carbon dioxide in the slush is controlled. Slush is useful when subsequent carbon dioxide snow is being sought for refrigeration purposes. The system is versatile enough to be used successively to deliver slush and then cold liquid, or vice versa.
