A hydrokinetic torque converter, comprising:a pump member;a turbine member; anda stator member, said members being rotatable about a common axis and together forming a toroidal structure for the flow of a fluid through the torque converter, said toroidal structure having a meridian cross-sectional outline in a plane including said common axis and further including a second axis normal to said common axis, said outline being asymmetrical with reference to said normal axis, wherein said outline includes a first portion disposed at a first radial distance from said common axis and having a first length in the direction of said common axis, said outline further including a second portion disposed at a second radial distance from said common axis and having in the direction of said common axis a second length greater than said first length, said second distance being greater than said first distance.
