A method and system for predicting the end of life of a packed resin or dry chemical bed in a gas scrubber including providing a plurality of thermocouples spacedly disposed in the packed bed, the thermocouples being operatively coupled to a processor, monitoring the motion of an exothermic wavefront through the packed resin or dry chemical bed by periodically sampling the thermocouples and computing a time at which the exothermic wavefront will have traversed the packed resin or dry chemical bed, the computed time being the end of life of the packed res...
