A collapsible, steerable antenna system 10 is configured for rapid deployment that is highly accurate and sophisticated, yet easy to assemble. The antenna system 10 includes a pod mount assembly 20, a steering head controller assembly 40, a back frame 60, a dish assembly 100, a feed leg assembly 120, a horn mount assembly 160, and a horn assembly 180. The pod mount assembly 20 includes a plurality of ground engaging pod legs and a telescopic shaft which lifts and supports the controller assembly 40. The controller assembly 40 selectively engages with the back frame 60 and aligns the dish assembly 100 via the back frame 60. The back frame 60 engages and supports the dish assembly 100 to help minimize parametric distortion of the dish assembly 100. The dish assembly 100 includes a plurality of wedge-shaped pieces which connect to form the dish assembly. The feed leg assembly 120 includes a main feed leg and side feed legs. The horn mount assembly 160 connects the horn assembly 180 to the main feed leg. The horn assembly 180 directs the transmission signal towards the dish assembly 100 when sending a signal.

A collapsible, steerable antenna assembly configured for rapid deployment, the antenna assembly comprising:a base mount for supporting the antenna assembly; a steering controller assembly supported by the base mount, the controller assembly including a plurality of tombstone controller steering members operatively attached to one another, wherein each steering member rotates the controller assembly about a separate axis; an antenna dish for sending and receiving transmission signals; a back frame assembly including: a center frame selectively engaging the controller assembly and the antenna dish; a template assembly selectively attached to the center frame, wherein the template assembly includes a plurality of leaves that engage the antenna dish and hinge at an intersection point, and wherein the plurality of leaves have a folded transportation state and an unfolded operational state; and a feed leg mount attached to the center frame; a feed leg assembly, wherein the feed leg assembly includes a main feed leg and side feed legs, wherein the main feed leg connects to and is supported by the feed leg mount of the back frame assembly to minimize distortion of the antenna dish due to the weight of the main feed leg, and wherein the side feed legs attach to the main feed leg and the back frame assembly; a horn mount assembly selectively engaging the main feed leg; and a horn assembly, wherein the horn assembly is attached to the horn mount assembly for adjustably positioning the horn assembly with respect to the antenna dish.
