An emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber composition as specified in claim 2 wherein the hydroxy alkyl acrylate is selected from the group consisting of hydroxymethyl (meth)acrylate, 2-hydroxyethyl(meth)-acrylate, 2-hydroxypropyl (meth)acrylate, 3-hydroxy-propyl (meth)acrylate, 3-phenoxy-2-hydroxypropyl (meth)acrylate, glycerol mono(meth)acrylate, hydroxy-butyl (meth)acrylate, hydroxyhexyl (meth)acrylate, hydroxyoctyl (meth)acrylate, hydroxymethyl(meth)acryl-amide, 2-hydroxyethyl(meth)acrylamide, 2-hydroxypropyl-(meth)acrylamide, and 3-hydroxypropyl(meth)acrylamide. 8. An emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber composition as specified in claim 2 wherein the hydroxy alkyl acrylate is selected from the group consisting of hydroxymethyl (meth)acrylate, 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate, and 3-hydroxypropyl (meth)acrylate. 9. An emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber composition as specified in claim 2 wherein the hydroxy alkyl acrylate is hydroxypropylmethacrylate. 10. An emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber composition as specified in claim 2 wherein the hydroxy alkyl acrylate is a mixture of 2-hydroxypropylmethacrylate and 3-hydroxypropylmethacrylate. 11. An emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber composition as specified in claim 2 wherein the bound hydroxy alkyl acrylate monomer in the styrene-butadiene rubber is present at a level which is within the range of about 0.1 weight percent to about 15 weight percent. 12. An emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber composition as specified in claim 2 wherein the bound hydroxy alkyl acrylate monomer in the styrene-butadiene rubber is present at a level which is within the range of about 0.5 weight percent to about 10 weight percent. 13. An emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber composition as specified in claim 3 wherein the bound hydroxy alkyl acrylate monomer in the styrene-butadiene rubber is present at a level which is within the range of about 1 weight percent to about 8 weight percent. 14. An emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber composition as specified in claim 4 wherein the bound hydroxy alkyl acrylate monomer in the styrene-butadiene rubber is present at a level which is within the range of about 3 weight percent to about 5 weight percent. 15. An emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber composition as specified in claim 14 wherein the number average molecular weight as determined by field flow fractionation that is within the range of about 60,000 to 145,000. 16.
