An apparatus for casting molten metal onto a moving strip of material includes a stationary die having upstream and downstream portions with a casting portion, past which the strip of material is capable of being moved. The casting portion has a casting channel extending from the upstream portion through the downstream portion for facing the moving strip to contain and shape the molten metal into a profile against the moving strip. A heating arrangement heats the upstream portion of the stationary die to prevent the molten metal from solidifying within the casting channel at the upstream portion, thereby allowing the molten metal to fill the casting channel. The casting channel at the downstream portion allows the molten metal to cool while passing therethrough to solidify sufficiently to retain the shape of the casting channel when exiting the stationary die. having an upper section, a top plate formed on a top of the body, a mediate section and lower section; a polygonal passage longitudinally defined through the mediate section of the body, the polygonal passage adapted to receive a polygonal shaft of the venetian so that the body can be rotated by the polygonal shaft of the venetian blind; two channels each longitudinally defined in the upper section of the body and each having a closed end and an open end, the closed ends of the two channels on opposite ends of the body; two grooves each longitudinally defined in the top plate of the body, each being defined by two edges and communicating with a corresponding one of the two channels; multiple teeth formed on each of the two edges of each of the two grooves; two connecting rods each in a corresponding one of the two channels and located below a corresponding groove, each of the connecting rods integrally extending from a closed end of the corresponding channel; a reinforcing baffle formed in the upper section of the body, the reinforcing baffle located between the two channels and integrally extending from an under side of the top surface; and a flare formed on each of the two edges defining each of the two grooves and located at the open end of the channels, where each connecting rod is polygonal. sed downstream of the delaminator for drivingly contacting the web, a slip clutch, and means for driving the take-up roll through the slip clutch to maintain the web downstream of the platen roll under tension. 5. Apparatus as defined in claim 4, wherein the driving means includes an electric motor and gearing connecting the electric motor to the platen roll and to the take-up roll. 6. Apparatus for printing and dispensing labels releasably adhered to a carrier web, comprising: a print head, a driven platen roll cooperable with the print head, a delaminator about which the carrier web is drawn to delaminate printed labels from the carrier web, the delaminator being disposed downstream of the print head and platen roll, a pair of cooperating rolls disposed directly downstream of the delaminator for drivingly contacting and advancing the carrier web, the pair of rolls having a nip between which the carrier web passes, the pair of rolls including a take-up roll driven to rotate at a peripheral speed greater than the peripheral speed of the platen roll, and a slip clutch for limiting the amount of driving force applied to the web by the take-up roll.
