The present invention relates to liquid detergent compositions comprising one or more block polymeric suds volume and suds duration enhancers. The block polymeric suds enhancers (suds boosters) suitable for use in the compositions of the present invention comprise one or more cationic block units and optionally one or more additional building blocks such as hydroxyl-containing units, hydrophobic group-containing units, hydrophilic group-containing units, anionic units, other cationic units, hydrogen-bonding units and zwitterionic units. The present invention further relates to methods for providing enhanced suds volume and suds duration during hand washing.

1. A liquid detergent composition having increased suds volume and suds retention suitable for use in hand dishwashing, said composition comprising: a) an effective amount of a block polymeric suds stabilizer, said stabilizer comprising: i) one or more cationic group-containing units; and ii)

A liquid detergent composition having increased suds volume and suds retention suitable for use in hand dishwashing, said composition comprising: a) an effective amount of a block polymeric suds stabilizer, said stabilizer comprising: i) one or more cationic group-containing units; and ii) optionally, one or more additional building block units; b) an effective amount of a detersive surfactant; c) a diamine having molecular weight less than or equal to 400 g/mol; and d) the balance carriers and other adjunct ingredients; provided that a 10% aqueous solution of said detergent composition has a pH of from about 4 to about 12; said suds stabilizer comprises a cationic unit of the formula: wherein each of R1,R2and R3are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1to C6alkyl, and mixtures thereof; T is an ester group; Z is selected from the group consisting of: --(CH2)--, (CH2--CH=CH)--, --(CH2--CHOH)--, (CH2--CHNR6)--, --(CH2--CHR14--O)-- and mixtures thereof; wherein R14is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1to C6alkyl, and mixtures thereof; z is an integer selected from about 0 to about 12; A is NR4R5,wherein each of R4and R5are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-C8linear or branched alkyl, alkyleneoxy having the formula: --(R10O)yR11 wherein R10is C2-C4linear or branched alkylene, and mixtures thereof; R11is hydrogen, C1-C4alkyl, and mixtures thereof; y is from 1 to about 10. 2. The composition according to claim 1 wherein the diamine is present in the composition at a level of from about 0.25% to about 15% by weight of the composition. 3. The composition according to claim 1 wherein said diamine is 1,3-bis(methylamine)-cyclohexane. 4. The composition according to claim 1 wherein said diamine has the formula: wherein each R20is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-C4linear or branched alkyl, alkyleneoxy having the formula: --(R21O)yR22 wherein R21is C2-C4linear or branched alkylene, and mixtures thereof; R22is hydrogen, C1-C4alkyl, and mixtures thereof; y is from 1 to about 10; X is a unit selected from: i) C3-C10linear alkylene, C3-C10branched alkylene, C3-C10cyclic alkylene, C3-C10branched cyclic alkylene, an alkyleneoxyalkylene having the formula: --(R21O)yR21-- wherein R21and y are the same as defined herein above; ii) C3-C10linear, C3-C10branched linear, C3-C10cyclic, C3-C10branched cyclic alkylene, C6-C10arylene, wherein said unit comprises one or more electron donating or electron withdrawing moieties which provide said diamine with a PKa greater than about 8; and iii) mixtures of (i) and (ii) provided said diamine has a PKaof at least about 8. 5. The composition according to claim 4 wherein each R20is hydrogen and X is C3-C6linear alkylene, C3-C6branched alkylene, and mixtures thereof.
