A quorumless network cluster provides a highly available system by addressing the partition-in-space and partition-in-time problems in network clusters. In a particular solution, a cluster manager (CM) can use disk based messaging to manage the operation of the cluster. Each node within the cluster must have access to a shared disk to operate within the cluster. A particular methodology can operate the cluster in a closed loop between nodes 1 to N. If a node fails to receive a heartbeat message from its predecessor in the loop, it initiates a cluster reconfiguration by sending a reconfiguration message to each other node in the cluster. The quorumless cluster can also include a common storage for a cluster definition. Each node may provide a proposed change to the cluster definition, however only a single coordinator node may update the cluster definition and apply the suggested changes.

A composition according to claim 1 wherein said polyamine is N,N'-bis(aminopropyl)-1,3-propylenediamine, N,N'-bis(hydroxyethyl)-N,N'-bis[3-N,N-bis(hydroxyethyl)aminopropyl]-1,3-propylenediamine, N,N'-bis(2-hydroxypropyl)-N,N'-bis[3-N,N-bis(2-hydroxypropyl)aminopropyl]-1,3-propylenediamine, N,N'-bis(2-hydroxybutyl)-N,N'-bis[3-N,N-bis(2-hydroxybutyl)aminopropyl]-1,3-propylenediamine, 5-N-methyl dipropylenetriamine, 1,1-N-dimethyl-5-N'-methyl-9,9-N"-dimethyl dipropylenetriamine, 1,1-N-dimethyl-9,9-N"-dimethyl dipropylenetriamine, and mixtures thereof. 5. A composition according to claim 1 wherein R1is exclusively hydrogen, or alkyleneoxy having the formula: --(R3O)m--R4 wherein R3is C2-C6linear alkylene, C3-C6linear alkylene, or mixtures thereof; R4is hydrogen, C1-C4alkyl, or mixtures thereof; and mixtures thereof; m is 1 to 4. 6. A composition according to claim 1 wherein said polyamine is a cyclic polyamine wherein L is piperazine. 7. A composition according to claim 1 wherein R is --(CH2)kN(R1)2,k is from 3 to 6; R1is exclusively hydrogen, or alkyleneoxy having the formula: --(R3O)m--R4 R3is C2-C6linear alkylene, C3-C6branched alkylene, or mixtures thereof, R4is hydrogen, C1-C6alkyl, or mixtures thereof, m is from 1 to 4; and mixtures thereof. 8. A composition according to claim 1 wherein said polyamine is N,N'-bis(aminopropyl)-1,4-piperazine, N,N'-bis(hydroxyethyl)-N,N'-bis[3-N,N-bis(hydroxyethyl)aminopropyl]-1,4-piperazine, N,N'-bis(2-hydroxypropyl)-N,N'-bis[3-N,N-bis(2-hydroxypropyl)aminopropyl]-1,4-piperazine, and mixtures thereof. 9. A composition according to claim 1 wherein said polyamine is N,N'-bis(3-aminopropyl)-1,3-propylenediamine having the formula: 10.
