A method is provided for gas-assisted injection molding for forming a hollow product. The mold cavity is prepressurized with fluid prior to injecting the molten material into the mold cavity, and the molten material is injected into the mold cavity against the pressurized fluid to establish a resultant internal counterpressure within the molten material.
