The present invention provides the use and composition of matter of angiogenic or other growth factors expressed by combining various types and stages of differentiation of allogeneic human cell strains or lines in unencapsulated pastes (mixed with or applied to extracellular matrix material or synthetic biocompatible substances) to be temporarily applied to wounds or defects in the skin or other tissues for the restoration of blood supplying connective tissue to enable organ-specific cells to reestablish organ integrity as well as to inhibit excessive scar formation.

A cell paste, comprising: a) one or more keratinocytes and fibroblasts that naturally secretes on or more biologically active molecules selected from the group consisting of GM-CSF, V GF, KGF, bFGF, TGFfβ admixed with b) an extracellular matrix or matrix material, wherein said extracellular matrix or matrix material is selected from the group consisting of collagens, alginate, alginate beads, agarose, fibrin, fibrin glue, blood plasma, fibrin beads, laminins, proteoglycans, fibronectins, chitosan, and heparin, c) wherein the cells are mitotically inactivated by irradiation, and; d) wherein the cells are allogeneic such that the resulting admixture forms a viscous cell paste. 2. The cell paste of claim 1 wherein the one or more keratinocytes and fibroblasts are differentiated fibroblasts and keratinocytes. 3. The cell paste of claim 1 wherein the cells are immortalized using at least one gene or polypeptide selected from the group consisting of the 12S and 13S products of the adenovirus EJA genes, hTERT, SV40 small T antigen, SV40 large T antigen, papilloma viruses E6 and B7, the Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen-2 (EBNA2), human T-cell leukemia virus-l (HTLV-l), HTLV-l tax, Herpesvirus saimiri (HVS), mutant p53 , myc, c-jun, c-ras, c-Ha-ras, h-ras, v-src, c-fgr, myb, c-myc, n-myc, and Mdm2.
