Outwardly facing channel portions taper outwardly from a peripheral rim defining the upper edge of the container toward the bottom edge of the sidewall. The bottom edge of the sidewall is joined to a bottom wall by a curved intermediate wall portion and the bottom edge of the sidewall extends slightly beyond the bottom wall of the container for transferring forces acting on the sidewall directly to a support surface.
