An energy management system operable in three modes of operation to either drive or retard the drive shaft (110) of a vehicle, or in a neutral mode, to have no driving or retarding influence on the drive shaft. The system includes energy accumulating means (100, 101) which is operable to store and release energy through receipt and release of fluid, pumping means (104) in fluid communication with the energy communication means (100, 101), a reservoir (107) of fluid in communication with the pumping means (104), and coupling means for coupling the pumping means (110) to the drive shaft (110). Whereby in the retarding mode of the system, the drive shaft (110) drives the pumping means (104) to pump fluid to the energy accumulating means (100, 101), and whereby in the driving mode of the system, the energy accumulating means (100, 101) releases fluid to drive the pumping means (104) which drives the drive shaft (110). Whereby in the neutral mode of the system, the pumping means (104) is inoperative to exert any driving or retarding influence on the drive shaft (110). A retarding system is also provided, as is a terrain logging facility for logging the terrain of a route over which a vehicle travels.

The system includes energy accumulating means (100, 101) which is operable to store and release energy through receipt and release of fluid, pumping means (104) in fluid communication with the energy communication means (100, 101), a reservoir (107) of fluid in communication with the pumping means (104), and coupling means for coupling the pumping means (110) to the drive shaft (110). Whereby in the retarding mode of the system, the drive shaft (110) drives the pumping means (104) to pump fluid to the energy accumulating means (100, 101), and whereby in the driving mode of the system, the energy accumulating means (100, 101) releases fluid to drive the pumping means (104) which drives the drive shaft (110). Whereby in the neutral mode of the system, the pumping means (104) is inoperative to exert any driving or retarding influence on the drive shaft (110). A cooling and flushing arrangement, for a tool (10) including a coolant and flushing agent (2) contained in a closed storage tank (3), a suction pump (4) connected to said storage tank (3), a closed flushing circulation system (6) extending in a supply line from said storage tank (3) through a filter (8) with a pressure pump (7) located in the pipeline between said storage tank (3) and said filter (8), said supply line extending from said filter (8) to a collecting member (11) enclosing at least a part of said tool (10), said flushing circulation system (6) including a suction line (12) extending from said collecting member (11) to said storage tank (3), said flushing circulation system (6) is combined with a reservoir circulation system (13) for said coolant and flushing agent (2) comprising a reservoir (14) connected to said storage tank (3) via a float valve located in said storage tank (3) and said reservoir (14) connected at a position spaced from the connection to said storage tank (3) to said flushing circulation system (6) via a drain valve (16), a drive (17) forms the driving means for said suction pump (4) and said pressure pump (7). ncluding at least one complementary electrical connector engaged with said at least one electrical connector, and at least one transducer operably connected to said at least one complementary electrical connector such that said at least one transducer is operably connected to the steering system, braking system, and energy conversion system; wherein the chassis is characterized by an upper chassis face; wherein the body is characterized by a lower body face; wherein said at least one electrical connector is located at or above the upper chassis face or forms part of the upper chassis face; and wherein said at least one complementary electrical connector is located at or below the lower body face or forms part of the lower body face.
