An aircraft body structure as defined in claim 1, wherein the reinforcing material further comprises a plurality of discrete strengthening fibers interspersed and embedded within a layer of the polymer foam material.11. An aircraft body structure as defined in claim 10, wherein the discrete fibers are silicone nitride fibers.12. An aircraft body structure as defined in claim 1, wherein the composite reinforcing layer is also affixed to a portion of the frame elements.13.
