A method of forming an image, comprising:emitting a plurality of light beams from a plurality of vertically arranged light emitting devices;passing the plurality of light beams through corresponding slots of a vertical stay;receiving the plurality of light beams which have passed through the corresponding slots of the vertical stay;forming a toner image using the plurality of light beams which have been received. 50. The image forming method according to claim 49, further comprising the step of:transferring the toner image from a light sensitive medium to another medium. 51. The image forming method according to claim 49, further comprising the step of:housing the plurality of light emitting devices in a housing. 52. The image forming method according to claim 51, further comprising the step of:housing a plurality of image forming cartridges, used to form the toner image, in the housing. 53. The image forming method according to claim 52, wherein the vertical stay is disposed at an interior position of the housing and separates an image forming area including the plurality of image forming cartridges from an optical writing area including the plurality of light emitting devices. 54. The image forming method according to claim 52, wherein the vertical stay extends from a top portion of the housing to a bottom portion of the housing. 55. The image forming method according to claim 49, wherein the vertical stay has a sufficient rigidity to bear a buckling load ascribable to a weight of a plurality of image forming cartridges and light emitting devices. 56. An image forming apparatus, comprising:a plurality of photosensitive drums arranged one above another and configured to form an image on a medium;a plurality of optical writing devices arranged one above another, said plurality of optical writing devices respectively corresponding to the plurality of photosensitive drums and configured to emit light beams to the plurality of photosensitive drums so as to form the image on the medium; anda vertical stay disposed between the plurality of photosensitive drums and optical writing devices and including slots configured to allow the light beams emitted from the plurality of optical writing devices to pass therethrough to the plurality of photosensitive drums. 60. The image forming apparatus according to claim 59, further comprising:a housing configured to house a plurality of image forming cartridges and the plurality of optical writing devices. 61. The image forming apparatus according to claim 60, wherein the vertical stay is disposed substantially at a center position of the housing and separates an image forming area in the housing, the image forming area configured to house the plurality of image forming cartridges, from an optical writing area in the housing, the optical writing area configured to house the plurality of optical writing devices. 62. The image forming apparatus according to claim 60, wherein the vertical stay has a sufficient rigidity to bear a buckling load ascribable to a weight of the plurality of image forming cartridges and optical writing devices. 63.
