1. A method of producing a starch graft copolymer for use in agricultural applications, comprising the steps of:providing grafting reactants and a starch;graft polymerizing said grafting reactants onto said starch to form a starch graft copolymer;saponifying said starch graft copolymer;precipitating said starch graft copolymer;granularizing said starch graft copolymer to form particles; andwherein said precipitating step further comprises the step of forming said starch graft copolymer into a plurality of rod-shaped particles. 2. The method as in claim 1, wherein said precipitating step further comprises placing said plurality of rod-shaped particles into an alcohol. 3. The method as in claim 2, wherein said alcohol comprises methanol. 4. The method as in claim 1, wherein said precipitating step further comprises the step of drying said plurality of rod-shaped particles. 5. The method as in claim 4, wherein said drying said plurality of rod-shaped particles comprises air-drying. 6. A starch graft polymer for use in agricultural applications made in accordance with the process of claim 1.
