The coated metallic mesh according to claim 7, further comprising a second molecular layer adjacent said molecular layer so as to form a bilayer, wherein said second molecular layer comprises at least one molecule having a hydrophobic region.11. The coated metallic mesh according to claim 10, wherein said hydrophobic region of said second molecular layer is adjacent to said hydrophobic region of said molecular layer.12. The coated metallic mesh according to claim 11, further comprising at least one biological molecule in said bilayer.13. The coated metallic mesh according to claim 12, wherein said biological molecule is selected from the group consisting of: deoxyribonucleic acid, ribonucleic acid, and proteins.
