A carton includes a plurality of walls including a top wall, a pair of opposed side walls connected to side edges of the top wall and an end wall interconnecting the side walls defining an upper corner of the carton. The carton also includes an article dispenser for dispensing articles from the carton. The dispenser includes a detachable portion of the carton formed from the top, side and end walls and detachably connected to the top, side and end walls to be detached from the carton to define an opening for exposing an endmost article for removal. The detachable portion is adapted to define a heel for engaging the lower portion of the carton to support the carton in an inclined position.

A carton comprising a plurality of walls including a top wall, a pair of opposed side walls connected to side edges of said top wail and an end wall interconnecting said side walls defining an upper corner of the carton and an article dispenser for dispensing articles from the carton, said dispenser including a detachable portion of the carton formed from said top, side and end walls, said detachable portion being connected to said top, side and end walls by a detachable connection to be detached from the carton to define an opening for exposing at least an endmost article for removal, at least one of said side walls comprising a tear initiation arrangement for facilitating a user's cross-tearing motion for detaching said detachable portion along said detachable connection, wherein said detachable connection of said detachable portion comprises a frangible line of joinder for defining an edge of said opening, said frangible line extending from said tear initiation arrangement of said at least one side wall into said top and end walls, and wherein said tear initiation arrangement comprises a hinged flap formed from said at least one side wall to be inwardly displaceable to define a finger aperture.2. The carton according to claim 1 wherein an edge of the finger aperture is provided by said frangible line to enable a user to grasp an edge of said detachable portion.3. The carton according to claim 2 further comprising a bevelled corner panel between said top wall and said end wall to provide support to a user's finger when gripping said detachable portion during the cross-tearing motion.4. A carton comprising a plurality of walls including a top wall, a pair of opposed side walls connected to side edges of said top wall and an end wall interconnecting said side walls to provide a front end of the carton, and an article dispenser provided at said front end of the carton to dispense articles from the carton, said dispenser including an opening for exposing at least an endmost article for removal, said opening being provided by removal of a portion of the carton formed from said top, side and end walls, the carton further comprising a heel formed from said portion of the carton, said heel being engaged with a part of the carton to support the carton in an inclined position where the carton is inclined to said front end, wherein said heel is connected to a rear end the carton, and wherein said heel comprises a protruding portion formed from said top wall, and said protruding portion is connected to said rear end of the carton to hold the heel in position.5. The carton according to claim 4 wherein said rear end comprises an end wall panel hingedly connected to one of said side walls, and the protruding portion is placed to underlie said end wall panel to be in face-contacting relationship with an inside surface of said end wall panel.6. The carton according to claim 5 wherein said rear end further comprises a support flap hingedly connected to a base wall of the carton and disposed to underlie said end wall panel, said protruding portion being interposed between said end wall panel and said support flap.7. The carton according to claim 6 wherein said heel is positioned so that an edge of said heel abuts said base wall of the carton.8. The carton according to claim 5 wherein said rear end further comprises an engagement flap hingedly connected to and extending downwardly from said end wall panel, and said protruding portion is placed to underlie said engagement flap.9. The carton according to claim 5 wherein said protruding portion comprises a pair of opposed side edges in engagement with said side walls respectively.10. A carton comprising a plurality of walls including a top wall, a pair of opposed side walls connected to side edges of said top wall and an end wall interconnecting said side walls to provide a front end of the carton, and an article dispenser provided at said front end of the carton to dispense articles from the carton, said dispenser including an opening for exposing at least an endmost article for removal, said opening being provided by removal of a portion of the carton formed from said toe, side and end walls, the carton further comprising a heel formed from said portion of the carton, said heel being engaged with a part of the carton to support the carton in an inclined position where the carton is inclined to said front end, and wherein the heel comprises one or more side panels to abut the side walls of the carton to provide lateral stability to the inclined carton.11. A package comprising an article group formed of at least one tier of cylindrical articles disposed on sides thereof in a side-by-side parallel fashion and a carton disposed around said group, said carton comprising a top wall, a pair of opposed side walls connected to side edges of said top wall and an end wall interconnecting said side walls defining an upper corner of the carton and an article dispenser for dispensing said articles from said carton, said dispenser including a detachable portion of said carton formed from said top, side and end walls, said detachable portion being detachably connected to said top, side and end walls by a detachable connection to be detached from said carton to define an opening for exposing an endmost article for removal, at least one of said side walls comprising a tear initiation arrangement for facilitating a user's cross-tearing motion for detaching said detachable portion along said detachable connection, wherein said carton further comprising a tear-assisting arrangement formed at least in said end wall to enable a user to grip an article positioned within said detachable portion, said tear-assisting arrangement comprising a hinged flap formed at least in part from said end wall and inwardly displaceable to define a finger aperture.12. A package comprising an article group formed of at least one tier of cylindrical articles disposed on sides thereof in a side-by-side parallel fashion and a carton disposed around said group, said carton comprising a top wall, a pair of opposed side walls connected to side edges of said top wall and an end wall interconnecting said side walls defining an upper corner of the carton and an article dispenser for dispensing said articles from said carton, said dispenser including a detachable portion of said carton formed from said top, side and end walls, said detachable portion being detachably connected to said top, side and end walls by a detachable connection to be detached from said carton to define an opening for exposing an endmost article for removal, at least one of said side walls comprising a tear initiation arrangement for facilitating a user's cross-tearing motion for detaching said detachable portion along said detachable connection, wherein said carton further comprises a bevelled panel to provide support for a user's finger when said detachable portion is gripped by the user for detachment of said detachable portion.13. The package according to claim 12 wherein said detachable connection comprises a frangible line of joinder for defining an edge of said opening, said frangible line extending from said tear initiation arrangement of said at least one side wall into said top and end walls, wherein said article group comprises two or more vertically arranged tiers of cylindrical articles, said articles in each tier being disposed on sides thereof in a side-by-side parallel fashion, said frangible line being disposed across opposite ends of an endmost article of a lowermost tier.14. A package comprising an article group formed of at least one tier of cylindrical articles disposed on sides thereof in a side-by-side parallel fashion and a carton disposed around said group, said carton comprising a top wall, a pair of opposed side walls connected to side edges of said top wall and an end wall interconnecting said side walls defining an upper corner of the carton and an article dispenser for dispensing said articles from said carton, said dispenser including a detachable portion of said carton formed from said top, side and end walls, said detachable portion being detachably connected to said top, side and end walls by a detachable connection to be detached from said carton to define an opening for exposing an endmost article for removal, at least one of said side walls comprising a tear initiation arrangement for facilitating a user's cross-tearing motion for detaching said detachable portion alone said detachable connection, wherein said article group comprises two vertically arranged tiers of cylindrical articles, wherein article group is oriented such that said side walls are disposed alongside ends of said cylindrical articles, and wherein the position of said tear initiation arrangement is in registry with a space at the center of four end articles including two endmost articles next to said end wall and the two adjacent articles.15. The package according to claim 14 wherein said detachable connection comprises a frangible line of joinder for defining an edge of said opening, said frangible line extending from said tear initiation arrangement of said at least one side wall into said top and end walls.16. The package according to claim 14 wherein said tear initiation arrangement comprises a hinged flap formed from said at least one side wall to be inwardly displaceable to define a finger aperture.17. A package comprising an article group formed of at least two tier of cylindrical articles disposed on sides thereof in a side-by-side parallel fashion and a carton disposed around said group, said carton comprising a top wall, a pair of opposed side walls connected to side edges of said top wall and an end wall interconnecting said side walls defining an upper corner of the carton and an article dispenser for dispensing said articles from said carton, said dispenser including a detachable portion of said carton formed from said top, side and end walls, said detachable portion being detachably connected to said top, side and end walls along a frangible line to be detached from said carton to define an opening for exposing an endmost article for removal, wherein a portion of said frangible line in said top wall is arranged so as to overlie a second endmost article in an uppermost tier to mitigate undesired rupture of said portion of said frangible line, said portion of said frangible line in said top wall being V-shaped.
