The closure device (1) comprises a haemostatic material (3), which is contained in the distal end of an elongated insertion assembly (2). The insertion assembly (2), which comprises a stationary part (4) and a retractable part (5) being slidably movable with regard to each other, is adapted to be attached to an introducer (7) being in position in the incision channel, so that the insertion assembly (2) can be slid along the introducer (7) until the distal end of the insertion assembly (2) is in contact with the vessel wall, where the haemostatic material (3) is delivered in the incision channel by a retracting movement of the retractable part (5).

A closure device for sealing an incision channel extending from a tissue surface of a patient, through a wall of a vessel and into the vessel, in conjunction with an introducer whose distal end is inside the vessel and whose proximal end is outside the tissue surface, said closure device comprising:at least one snap-on attachment mechanism to be snapped on to the introducer such that the closure device can slide along the introducer; and a retractable part to contain haemostatic material such that the haemostatic material is contained in the closure device while the retractable part is in a non-retracted state and such that the haemostatic material is delivered in the incision channel outside the vessel by a retracting movement of the retractable part. 2. A closure device according to claim 1, further comprising:a stationary part in slidable engagement with the retractable part. 3. A closure device for sealing an incision channel extending from the skin of a patient, through a wall of a vessel and into the vessel, in conjunction with an introducer whose distal end is inside the vessel and whose proximal end is outside the skin of the patient, said closure device comprising:an elongated insertion assembly, which, in its distal portion, is adapted to contain a haemostatic material, wherein the insertion assembly comprises a stationary part and a retractable part, which is in slidable engagement with the stationary part, and at least one attachment mechanism arranged such that the closure device is adapted to be attached to the introducer such that the closure device can slide along the introducer and such that the haemostatic material can be delivered in the incision channel outside the vessel by a retracting movement of the retractable part, wherein the stationary part has a transverse portion to contact the haemostatic material, so that the haemostatic material is prevented from being retracted by the retracting movement of the retractable part. 4. A closure device for sealing an incision channel extending from the skin of a patient, through a wall of a vessel and into the vessel, in conjunction with an introducer whose distal end is inside the vessel and whose proximal end is outside the skin of the patient, said closure device comprising:an elongated insertion assembly, which, in its distal portion, is adapted to contain a haemostatic material, wherein the insertion assembly comprises a stationary part and a retractable part, which is in slidable engagement with the stationary part, and at least one attachment mechanism arranged such that the closure device is adapted to be attached to the introducer such that the closure device can slide along the introducer and such that the haemostatic material can be delivered in the incision channel outside the vessel by a retracting movement of the retractable part, wherein the attachment mechanism is in the form of a tubular attachment member, which extends along the outside of the distal portion of the insertion assembly and has a slit extending along its length, so that the attachment mechanism can be attached to the introducer. 5. A closure device for sealing an incision channel extending from the skin of a patient, through a wall of a vessel and into the vessel, in conjunction with an introducer whose distal end is inside the vessel and whose proximal end is outside the skin of the patient, said closure device comprising:an elongated insertion assembly, which, in its distal portion, is adapted to contain a haemostatic material, wherein the insertion assembly comprises a stationary part and a retractable part, which is in slidable engagement with the stationary part, and at least one attachment mechanism arranged such that the closure device is adapted to be attached to the introducer such that the closure device can slide alone the introducer and such that the haemostatic material can be delivered in the incision channel outside the vessel by a retracting movement of the retractable part, wherein the attachment mechanism is in the form of a slit or a cut-away portion that extends along the length of the insertion assembly, so that the insertion assembly can be attached to the introducer. 6. A closure device for sealing an incision channel extending from the skin of a patient, through a wall of a vessel and into the vessel, in conjunction with an introducer whose distal end is inside the vessel and whose proximal end is outside the skin of the patient, said closure device comprising:an elongated insertion assembly, which, in its distal portion, is adapted to contain a haemostatic material, wherein the insertion assembly comprises a stationary part and a retractable part, which is in slidable engagement with the stationary part, and at least one attachment mechanism arranged such that the closure device is adapted to be attached to the introducer such that the closure device can slide alone the introducer and such that the haemostatic material can be delivered in the incision channel outside the vessel by a retracting movement of the retractable part, wherein the attachment mechanism is in the form of flexible rings, each of which is provided with a slit and which are arranged spaced apart along the outside of the distal portion of the insertion assembly, so that the insertion assembly can be attached to the introducer. 7. A closure device for sealing an incision channel extending from the skin of a patient, through a wall of a vessel and into the vessel, in conjunction with an introducer whose distal end is inside the vessel and whose proximal end is outside the skin of the patient, said closure device comprising:an elongated insertion assembly, which, in its distal portion, is adapted to contain a haemostatic material, wherein the insertion assembly comprises a stationary part and a retractable part, which is in slidable engagement with the stationary part, and at least one attachment mechanism arranged such that the closure device is adapted to be attached to the introducer such that the closure device can slide along the introducer and such that the haemostatic material can be delivered in the incision channel outside the vessel by a retracting movement of the retractable part, wherein the stationary part has the form of a rod and the retractable part has the form of a hollow sheath that can slide outside the stationary part. 8. A closure device according to claim 7, wherein the distal end of the stationary part is adapted to be in contact with the haemostatic material, so that the haemostatic material is prevented from being retracted by the retracting movement of the retractable part.9. A closure device for sealing an incision channel extending from the skin of a patient, through a wall of a vessel and into the vessel, in conjunction with an introducer whose distal end is inside the vessel and whose proximal end is outside the skin of the patient, said closure device comprising:an elongated insertion assembly, which, in its distal portion, is adapted to contain a haemostatic material, wherein the insertion assembly comprises a stationary part and a retractable part, which is in slidable engagement with the stationary part, and at least one attachment mechanism arranged such that the closure device is adapted to be attached to the introducer such that the closure device can slide along the introducer and such that the haemostatic material can be delivered in the incision channel outside the vessel by a retracting movement of the retractable part, wherein the stationary part has the form of a rod, with a recess provided in its distal portion, and the retractable part has the form of a rod, with a recess provided in its distal portion, the stationary part and the retractable part being in slidable engagement via projections and grooves extending along their lengths and the haemostatic material is to be contained in a space provided by the two recesses and the stationary part and the retractable part. 10. A closure device according to claim 9, wherein the proximal end of the recess in the stationary part is adapted to be in contact with the haemostatic material, so that the haemostatic material is prevented from being retracted by the retracting movement of the retractable part.11. A closure device for sealing an incision channel extending from the skin of a patient, through a wall of a vessel and into the vessel, in conjunction with an introducer whose distal end is inside the vessel and whose proximal end is outside the skin of the patient, said closure device comprising:an elongated insertion assembly, which, in its distal portion, is adapted to contain a haemostatic material, wherein the insertion assembly comprises a stationary part and a retractable part, which is in slidable engagement with the stationary part, and at least one attachment mechanism arranged such that the closure device is adapted to be attached to the introducer such that the closure device can slide alone the introducer and such that the haemostatic material can be delivered in the incision channel outside the vessel by a retracting movement of the retractable part, wherein the retractable part has the form of a hollow sheath having an inner wall and an outer wall, between which the haemostatic material is to be contained, and the stationary part, which has the shape of a rod, is provided between the inner wall and the outer wall, so that the retractable part can slide on the stationary part. 12. A closure device according to claim 11, wherein the distal end of the stationary part is adapted to be in contact with the haemostatic material, so that the haemostatic material is prevented from being retracted by the retracting movement of the retractable part.13. A closure device for sealing an incision channel extending from the skin of a patient, through a wall of a vessel and into the vessel, in conjunction with an introducer whose distal end is inside the vessel and whose proximal end is outside the skin of the patient, said closure device comprising:an elongated insertion assembly, which, in its distal portion, is adapted to contain a haemostatic material, wherein the insertion assembly comprises a stationary part and a retractable part, which is in slidable engagement with the stationary part, and at least one attachment mechanism arranged such that the closure device is adapted to be attached to the introducer such that the closure device can slide along the introducer and such that the haemostatic material can be delivered in the incision channel outside the vessel by a retracting movement of the retractable part, wherein the retractable part has the form of a hollow sheath, with a cut-away portion extending along its length and in the wall of which an elongated cavity is provided, in which cavity the haemostatic material is to be contained, and wherein the stationary part, which has the form of a rod, is provided inside the cavity, so that the retractable part can slide on the stationary part. 14. A closure device according to claim 13, wherein the distal end of the stationary part is adapted to be in contact with the haemostatic material, so that the haemostatic material is prevented from being retracted by the retracting movement of the retractable part.15. A closure device for sealing an incision channel extending from the skin of a patient, through a wall of a vessel and into the vessel, in conjunction with an introducer whose distal end is inside the vessel and whose proximal end is outside the skin of the patient, said closure device comprising:an elongated insertion assembly, which, in its distal portion, is adapted to contain a haemostatic material, wherein the insertion assembly comprises a stationary part and a retractable part, which is in slidable engagement with the stationary part, and at least one attachment mechanism arranged such that the closure device is adapted to be attached to the introducer such that the closure device can slide along the introducer and such that the haemostatic material can be delivered in the incision channel outside the vessel by a retracting movement of the retractable part, wherein the distal end of the insertion assembly is bent in a direction away from the longitudinal direction of the introducer to which the insertion assembly is adapted to be attached to. 16. A closure device for sealing an incision channel extending from the skin of a patient, through a wall of a vessel and into the vessel, in conjunction with an introducer whose distal end is inside the vessel and whose proximal end is outside the skin of the patient, said closure device comprising:an elongated insertion assembly, which, in its distal portion, is adapted to contain a haemostatic material, wherein the insertion assembly comprises a stationary part and a retractable part, which is in slidable engagement with the stationary part, and at least one attachment mechanism arranged such that the closure device is adapted to be attached to the introducer such that the closure device can slide along the introducer and such that the haemostatic material can be delivered in the incision channel outside the vessel by a retracting movement of the retractable part, wherein the insertion assembly is provided with a drip channel extending from the distal end of the insertion assembly to a proximal end adapted to be outside the patient's skin, thereby providing an indication whether the closure device has been inserted into the vessel. 17. A closure device for sealing an incision channel extending from a tissue surface of a patient, through a wall of a vessel and into the vessel, in conjunction with an introducer whose distal end is inside the vessel and whose proximal end is outside the tissue surface, said closure device comprising:at least one snap-on attachment mechanism to be snapped on to the introducer such that the closure device can slide along the introducer; and a first part and a second part to contain haemostatic material such that the haemostatic material is contained in the closure device while the first part and the second part are not moved relative to one another and such that the haemostatic material is delivered in the incision channel outside the vessel by moving the first part and the second part relative to one another.
