An array of tampons, said array comprising: a.) a first tampon comprising i. an absorbent outer surface wherein said outer surface comprises an outer surface area and ii. a first identifier comprising a first surface area, wherein said first identifier is disposed on said first tampon and corresponds to a first absorbency; b.) a second tampon comprising i. an absorbent outer surface wherein said outer surface comprises an outer surface area and ii. a second identifier comprising a second surface area, wherein said second identifier is disposed on said second tampon and corresponds to a second absorbency; c.) wherein said first identifier surface area of said first tampon being different than said second identifier surface area of said second tampon d.) wherein said first identifier and said second identifier are written identifiers having increasing numbers indicating an increase in a functional characteristic. 2. The array of claim 1 wherein said tampon has a shape which is substantially serpentine shape.
