A system and method for control of a gas and/or chemical for treatment of a fluid, and for monitoring the operation of such a system. In one embodiment, the system comprises a reactor for receipt of the fluid and the gas and/or chemical for dissolving, mixing, diffusing, or infusing the gas and/or chemical into the fluid, and a controller to control the flow of the fluid and the gas and/or chemical into the reactor, and to monitor the operation of the system in accordance with predetermined operating conditions. In another embodiment, the system also comprises a gas/chemical generation system for generation of the gas and/or chemical to be introduced into the reactor. The present invention permits for the control of the system based on numerous dynamic conditions to optimize operation and to minimize safety hazards.

A system for treatment of a fluid with a treatment additive, the system comprising: a reactor having a first inlet for receipt of an amount of the fluid, at least one second inlet for receipt of an amount of the treatment additive, and an outlet for release of an amount of treated fluid therefrom; a controller operably connected to the reactor at the first inlet, the at least one second inlet, and the outlet, the controller capable of controlling and monitoring the amount of fluid entering the reactor and the amount of treatment additive entering the reactor, and capable of controlling and measuring the amount of treatment additive present in the treated fluid released from the reactor, wherein the controller comprises a means for storing parametric data representative of at least one parameter and of desired range(s) for each of the at least one parameters; a first valve for control of the amount of treated fluid flowing through the outlet of the reactor, the first valve operably connected to outlet of the reactor and the controller, and the controller capable of controlling the first valve, and wherein at least one of the at least one parameters comprises the amount of treated fluid flowing through the outlet of the reactor; and a monitoring device for monitoring a value related to one of the at least one parameters and a controlled device capable of affecting the value related to one of the at least one parameters, the monitoring device and the controlled device operably connected to the controller, wherein the controller is operable to determine a calculated value from the monitored value, to compare the calculated value to the desired range of the related one of the at least one parameters, and if the calculated value is outside the desired range of the related one of the at least one parameters, adjusting the controlled device. 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the controller is further operable to adjust the amount of fluid entering the reactor through the first inlet. 3. The system of claim 1, wherein the controller is further operable to adjust the amount of treatment additive entering the reactor through the at least one second inlet. 4. The system of claim 1, wherein the controller is further operable to adjust the amount of treated fluid leaving the reactor through the outlet of the reactor. 5. The system of claim 1, wherein the reactor further comprises a temperature sensor for measuring the temperature of the contents of the reactor, the temperature sensor operably connected to the controller, and wherein at least one of the at least one parameters comprises the temperature of the contents of the reactor. 6. The system of claim 1, wherein the reactor further comprises a pressure sensor for measuring the pressure of the contents of the reactor, the pressure sensor operably connected to the controller, and wherein at least one of the at least one parameters comprises the pressure of the contents of the reactor. 7. The system of claim 1, further comprising a flow meter for control of the rate of flow of the treatment additive into the at least one second inlet of the reactor, the flow meter operably connected to the controller, and wherein at least one of the at least one parameters comprises the flow rate of the treatment additive into the reactor. 8. The system of claim 1, further comprising a second valve for control of the amount of fluid entering the first inlet of the reactor, the second valve operably connected to the controller and the controller capable of controlling the second valve, and wherein at least one of the at least one parameters comprises the amount of fluid entering the reactor. 9. The system of claim 8, further comprising a pump for pumping fluid from the second valve into the first inlet of the reactor. 10. The system of claim 1, further comprising at least one supply of treatment additive, the at least one supply operably connected to the controller, and the controller further operable to control the amount of treatment additive supplied to the reactor from the at least one supply of treatment additive. 11. The system of claim 10, further comprising at least one treatment additive generator, the at least one treatment additive generator operably connected to the at least one supply of treatment additive to provide the generated treatment additive to the at least one supply of treatment additive. 12. The system of claim 11, wherein the at least one treatment additive generator is operably connected to the controller and the controller is further operable to activate and deactivate the at least one treatment additive generator. 13. The system of claim 1, further comprising at least one treatment additive generator, the at least one treatment additive generator operably connected to the controller to provide the generated treatment additive to the reactor, the controller further operable to activate and deactivate the at least one treatment additive generator. 14. The system of claim 1, wherein the fluid comprises water and the treatment additive comprises a gas. 15. The system of claim 1, wherein the fluid comprises wastewater and the treatment additive comprises oxygen. 16. The system of claim 1, wherein the fluid comprises wastewater and the treatment additive comprises oxygen and a chemical. 17. The system of claim 1, wherein the means for storing parametric data comprises a data storage media. 18. The system of claim 17, wherein the data storage media comprises memory. 19. The system of claim 17, wherein the data storage media comprises random access memory. 20. The system of claim 17, wherein the data storage media comprises at least one hard disk. 21. The system of claim 17, wherein the data storage media comprises a memory stick. 22. A system for treatment of a fluid with a treatment additive, the system comprising: a reactor having a first inlet for receipt of an amount of the fluid, at least one second inlet for receipt of an amount of the treatment additive, and an outlet for release of an amount of treated fluid therefrom; at least one device for collection of data related to the operation of the system; a controller operably connected to the reactor at the first inlet, the at least one second inlet, and the outlet, the controller operably connected to the at least one device and including means for data storage of the data collected by the at least one device; a first valve for control of the amount of fluid entering the first inlet of the reactor, the first valve operably connected to the controller and the controller capable of controlling the first valve; a second valve for control of the amount of treated fluid flowing through the outlet of the reactor, the second valve operably connected to the controller and the controller capable of controlling the second valve; wherein the data collected by the at least one device comprises at least the amount of fluid entering the reactor and the amount of treated fluid flowing through the outlet of the reactor. 23. A system for treatment of a fluid with a treatment additive, the system comprising: a reactor having a first inlet for receipt of an amount of the fluid, at least one second inlet for receipt of an amount of the treatment additive, and an outlet for release of an amount of the treated fluid therefrom; at least one treatment additive flow meter for control of the amount of treatment additive to enter the reactor through one of the at least one second inlets; a controller operably connected to the at least one flow meter, the controller capable of measuring the amount of treatment additive entering the reactor, and the amount of treated fluid released from the reactor and capable of controlling the at least one flow meter based on the measured amount(s) of the treatment additive, wherein the controller comprises a means for storing parametric data representative of at least one parameter and of desired range(s) for each of the at least one parameters; a monitoring device for monitoring a value related to one of the at least one parameters and a controlled device capable of affecting the value related to one of the at least one parameters, the monitoring device and the controlled device operably connected to the controller, wherein the controller is operable to determine a calculated value from the monitored value, to compare the calculated value to the desired range of the related one of the at least one parameters, and if the calculated value is outside the desired range of the related one of the at least one parameters, adjusting the controlled device; a first valve for control of the amount of fluid entering the first inlet of the reactor, the first valve operably connected to the controller and the controller capable of controlling the first valve, and wherein at least one of the at least one parameters comprises the amount of fluid entering the reactor; and a second valve for control of the amount of treated fluid flowing through the outlet of the reactor, the second valve operably connected to the controller and the controller capable of controlling the second valve, and wherein at least one of the at least one parameters comprises the amount of treated fluid flowing through the outlet of the reactor. 24. The system of claim 23, wherein the monitoring device is positioned within the reactor for measuring the amount(s) of the treatment additive in the fluid in the reactor. 25. The system of claim 23, wherein the monitoring device is positioned outside of the outlet of the reactor. 26. A system for treatment of a fluid with a treatment additive, the system comprising: a reactor having a first inlet for receipt of an amount of the fluid, at least one second inlet for receipt of an amount of the treatment additive, and an outlet for release of an amount of treated fluid therefrom; a controller operably connected to the reactor at the first inlet, the at least one second inlet, and the outlet, wherein the controller comprises a means for storing parametric data representative of at least one parameter and of desired range(s) for each of the at least one parameters; a first valve for control of the amount of fluid entering the first inlet of the reactor, the first valve operably connected to the controller and the controller capable of controlling the first valve, and wherein at least one of the at least one parameters comprises the amount of fluid entering the reactor; and a second valve for control of the amount of treated fluid flowing through the outlet of the reactor, the second valve operably connected to the controller and the controller capable of controlling the second valve, and wherein at least one of the at least one parameters comprises the amount of treated fluid flowing through the outlet of the reactor. 27. The system of claim 26, further comprising at least one device for measuring at least one of the at least one parameters, the at least one measuring device operably connected to the controller, and wherein the controller is further operable to compare the at least one measured parameter to the stored desired range for that parameter. 28. The system of claim 27, wherein the controller is further operable to adjust the at least one measuring device. 29. The system of claim 26, further comprising at least one device for measuring at least one data value, the at least one measuring device operably connected to the controller, and the controller is further operable to calculate a parameter from the at least one data value and to compare the calculated parameter to the stored desired range for that parameter. 30. The system of claim 29, wherein the controller is further operable to adjust the at least one measuring device. 31. The system of claim 26, further comprising a monitoring device for monitoring a value related to one of the at least one parameters and a controlled device capable of affecting the value related to one of the at least one parameters, the monitoring device and the controlled device operably connected to the controller, and wherein the controller is further capable of reading the value measured by the monitoring device and controlling the controlled device. 32. The system of claim 31, wherein the controller is further operable to compare the monitored value to the desired range of the related one of the at least one parameters, and, if the monitored value is outside the desired range of the related one of the at least one parameters, adjusting the controlled device. 33. The system of claim 32, wherein the controller is further operable to determine a calculated value from the monitored value, to compare the calculated value to the desired range of the related one of the at least one parameters, and, if the calculated value is outside the desired range of the related one of the at least one parameters, adjusting the controlled device. 34. The system of claim 23, wherein the means for storing parametric data comprises a data storage media. 35. The system of claim 34, wherein the data storage media comprises memory. 36. The system of claim 34, wherein the data storage media comprises random access memory. 37. The system of claim 34, wherein the data storage media comprises at least one hard disk. 38. The system of claim 34, wherein the data storage media comprises a memory stick. 39. The system of claim 26, wherein the reactor further comprises a temperature sensor for measuring the temperature of the contents of the reactor, the temperature sensor operably connected to the controller, and wherein at least one of the at least one parameters comprises the temperature of the contents of the reactor. 40. The system of claim 26, wherein the reactor further comprises a pressure sensor for measuring the pressure of the contents of the reactor, the pressure sensor operably connected to the controller, and wherein at least one of the at least one parameters comprises the pressure of the contents of the reactor. 41. The system of claim 26, further comprising a flow meter for control of the rate of flow of the treatment additive into the at least one second inlet of the reactor, the flow meter operably connected to the controller, and wherein at least one of the at least one parameters comprises the flow rate of the treatment additive into the reactor. 42. The system of claim 26, further comprising a pump for pumping fluid from the first valve into the first inlet of the reactor. 43. The system of claim 26, further comprising at least one supply of treatment additive, the at least one supply operably connected to the controller, and the controller further operable to control the amount of treatment additive supplied to the reactor from the at least one supply of treatment additive. 44. The system of claim 43, further comprising at least one treatment additive generator, the at least one treatment additive generator operably connected to the at least one supply of treatment additive to provide the generated treatment additive to the at least one supply of treatment additive. 45. The system of claim 44,wherein the at least one treatment additive generator is operably connected to the controller and the controller is further operable to activate and deactivate the at least one treatment additive generator. 46. The system of claim 26, further comprising at least one treatment additive generator, the at least one treatment additive generator operably connected to the controller to provide the generated treatment additive to the reactor, the controller further operable to activate and deactivate the at least one treatment additive generator. 47. The system of claim 26, wherein the fluid comprises water and the treatment additive comprises a gas. 48. The system of claim 26, wherein the fluid comprises wastewater and the treatment additive comprises oxygen. 49. The system of claim 26, wherein the fluid comprises wastewater and the treatment additive comprises oxygen and a chemical.
