What is claimed is: 1. A rivet body; which comprises: a cylindrical portion having a first end and a second end; a flange formed integrally with the cylindrical portion at the first end thereof; and the cylindrical portion and the flange being formed with an axial passage which extends therethrough

What is claimed is: 1. A rivet body; which comprises: a cylindrical portion having a first end and a second end; a flange formed integrally with the cylindrical portion at the first end thereof; and the cylindrical portion and the flange being formed with an axial passage which extends therethrough; wherein the axial passage comprises: a first end; a second end; a plurality of generally flat internal bearing surfaces, the generally flat internal bearing surfaces being parallel to an axis defining the axial passage, the bearing surfaces further having a trailing end at a second end of the axial passage; a cylindrical section formed in the axial passage intermediate the trailing end of the internal bearing surfaces and the first end of the axial passage; a first tapered section formed in the axial passage between, and tapering inward from, the trailing end of the generally flat bearing surfaces and an adjacent end of the cylindrical section; and a second tapered section formed in the axial passage between, and tapering inward from, the first end of the axial passage and an adjacent end of the cylindrical section. 2. The rivet body as set forth in claim 1, which further comprises: at least a region of the cylindrical portion adjacent to the generally flat internal bearing surfaces of the coupling section defining a plurality of cutting teeth; wherein the plurality of cutting teeth are flush with the internal bearing surfaces of the coupling section.
