A high speed serial to parallel loading station delivery system is provided. The food product is loaded onto a conveyor in the processing chamber having a plurality of two-piece food product cradles having openings receiving the food product at the loading station and discharging the food product at the unloading station and having gaps between food product carriers distally oppositely spaced from the openings and defining food product cavities therebetween, the width of the openings varying during traversal of the conveyor through the chamber from the loading to the unloading stations.

What is claimed is: 1. Food processing apparatus comprising a food processing chamber for processing a food product, a first conveyor for transporting said food product through said chamber, a loading station for loading said food product onto said first conveyor, a second conveyor delivering said food product serially to said loading station along a path of movement, a serial-to-parallel transfer loading delivery system comprising a transfer bar transferring said food product in parallel from said second conveyor to said first conveyor, said transfer bar being journaled to a pair of rotary disks and translated thereby for reciprocal movement into and out of the path of movement of said food product on said second conveyor. 2. The food processing apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said food product comprises food items delivered end-to-end on said second conveyor to said loading station, and wherein said first conveyor comprises a pair of transversely spaced chains traversing around respective upper and lower sprockets in serpentine manner. 3. The food processing apparatus according to claim 1 comprising a drive train comprising a drive spindle and a belt trained around said rotary disks and said drive spindle for rotating said disks in response to rotation of said drive spindle, and wherein said transfer bar transfers a plurality of said food items simultaneously to said first conveyor from said second conveyor. 4. The food processing apparatus according to claim 3 wherein said second conveyor continuously delivers food items to said loading station and continuously travels through said loading station, and wherein said transfer bar transfers said food items in batches to said first conveyor, wherein said first conveyor travels through said loading station in a first direction, said second conveyor travels through said loading station in a second direction, said transfer bar transfers said food items from said second conveyor to said first conveyor in a third direction, and wherein each of said first, second and third directions is transverse to each other, and said disks are each rotational about a respective rotation axis, and said transfer bar is journaled to each of said disks at a journal point spaced radially outwardly of the respective rotational axis such that rotation of said disks drives said transfer bar from a retracted position to an extended position, each said journal point moving in a circle, said transfer bar moving in an arc having a vector component into and out of the path of movement of said food items on said second conveyor transverse to said first direction and transverse to said second direction, and having a vector component also pushing said food items from said second conveyor forwardly in the same direction thereof onto said first conveyor, such that rotation of said disks translates said transfer bar to transfer said food items transversely from said second conveyor and also forwardly therefrom and in the same direction thereof from said second conveyor to said first conveyor. 5. The food processing apparatus according to claim 3 wherein said transfer bar moves into and out of the path of movement of said food items carried on said second conveyor, and wherein said transfer bar moves at a speed equal to or greater than said second conveyor such that said transfer bar engages and transfers a batch of said food items to said first conveyor, including the last food item in series in said batch, and then retracts out of the path of movement of said food items before the serially successive next food item. 6. The food processing apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said first conveyor travels through said loading station in a first direction, said second conveyor travels through said loading station in a second direction, said serial-to-parallel transfer loading delivery system transfers said food product from said second conveyor to said first conveyor in a third direction, and wherein each of said first, second and third directions is transverse to each other, said pair of rotary disks having parallel rotation axes extending along said first direction.
