What is claimed is: 1. A fluid container for containing a liquid nutrient having a pH equal to or greater than about 2.5, said container having an interior surface having a metal-ion sequestering agent provided in a localized area of the interior surface and immobilized on the interior surface, said sequestering agent having a high selectivity for certain metal ions and a low-affinity for at least one other ion, the container formed by a two shot molding, insert molding or two shot injection stretch blow molding process, said metal ion sequestering agent provided for removing a designated metal ion from said liquid nutrient for inhibiting growth of microbes in said liquid nutrient and an antimicrobial agent provided for at least maintaining an amount of microbes in said liquid nutrient to a prescribed condition, wherein said metal-ion sequestering a agent comprises derivatized nanoparticles comprising inorganic nanoparticles having an attached metal-ion sequestrant, wherein said inorganic nanoparticles have an average particle size of less than 200 nm and the derivatized nanoparticles have a stability constant greater than 1010 with iron (III), and wherein said metal ion sequestrant is attached to the nanoparticles by reacting the nanoparticles with a silicon alkoxide intermediate of the sequestrant having the general formula: Si(OR)4-xR'x; wherein x is an integer from 1 to 3; R is an alkyl group; and R' is an organic group containing an alpha amino carboxylate, a hydroxamate, or a catechol. 2. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said metal-ion sequestering agent has a stability constant greater than 1020 with iron (III). 3. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said antimicrobial agent comprises an antimicrobial active material selected from benzoic acid, sorbic acid, nisin, thymol, allicin, peroxides, imazalil, triclosan, benomyl, metal-ion release agents, metal colloids, anhydrides, and organic quaternary ammonium salts, and a metal ion exchange reagent comprising silver sodium zirconium phosphate, silver zeolite, or silver ion exchange resin. 4. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said antimicrobial agent comprises a metal ion selected from one of the following: silver; copper; gold; nickel; tin; and zinc. 5. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said antimicrobial agent comprises an antimicrobial active material selected from benzoic acid, sorbic acid, nisin, thymol, allicin, peroxides, imazalil, triclosan, benomyl, metal-ion release agents, metal colloids, anhydrides, and organic quaternary ammonium salts. 6. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said metal-ion sequestering agent has a stability constant greater than 1020 with iron (III) and said antimicrobial agent comprises a metal ion selected from one of the following: silver; copper; gold; nickel; tin; or zinc. 7. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said sequestering agent has a high-affinity for biologically important metal ions comprising Mn, Mg, Zn, Cu, and Fe. 8. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said sequestering agent is immobilized on the surface(s) of said container and has a high-selectivity for biologically important metal ions comprising Mn, Mg, Zn, Cu, and Fe. 9. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said certain metal ions comprises Mn, Mg, Zn, Cu, and Fe and said other at least one ion comprises calcium. 10. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said container comprises a bottle. 11. The fluid container of claim 10 wherein said bottle is made of a plastic material. 12. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said liquid nutrient comprises a beverage. 13. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said container is in the form of one of the following: metal can; drink box; drink pouch; foil wrap; glass container; and plastic container. 14. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said sequestering agent and said antimicrobial agent are applied to the interior surface of said container. 15. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said prescribed condition comprises maintaining said microbes in a biostatic state. 16. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said prescribed condition comprises maintaining said microbes in a substantially biocide state. 17. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said prescribed condition comprises maintaining said microbes to a prescribed level. 18. The fluid container of claim 1 wherein said prescribed condition comprises maintaining said microbes to a level that will not harm users. 19. A fluid container for containing a liquid nutrient having a pH equal to or greater than about 2.5, said container having an interior surface having a metal-ion sequestering agent provided in a localized area of the container formed by a two shot molding, insert molding or two shot injection stretch blow molding process, said metal ion sequestering agent provided for removing a designated metal ion from said liquid nutrient for inhibiting growth of microbes in said liquid nutrient and an antimicrobial agent for at least maintaining an amount of microbes in said liquid nutrient to a prescribed condition, wherein said metal-ion sequestering agent comprises derivatized nanoparticles comprising inorganic nanoparticles having an attached metal-ion sequestrant, and wherein said metal-ion sequestrant is attached to the nanoparticles by reacting the nanoparticles with a silicon alkoxide intermediate of the sequestrant having the general formula: Si(OR)4-x R'x; wherein x is an integer from 1 to 3; R is an alkyl group; and R' is an organic group containing an alpha amino carboxylate, a hydroxamate, or a catechol. 20. The fluid container of claim 19 wherein said metal-ion sequestering agent is immobilized on the interior surface of said container and has a stability constant greater than 1010 with iron (III). 21. The fluid container of claim 19 wherein said antimicrobial agent comprises an antimicrobial active material selected from benzoic acid, sorbic acid, nisin, thymol, allicin, peroxides, imazalil, triclosan, benomyl, metal-ion release agents, metal colloids, anhydrides, and organic quaternary ammonium salts, and a metal ion exchange reagent comprising silver sodium zirconium phosphate, silver zeolite, or silver ion exchange resin. 22. The fluid container of claim 19 wherein said antimicrobial agent comprises a metal ion selected from one of the following: silver; copper; gold; nickel; tin; and zinc. 23. The fluid container of claim 19 wherein said metal-ion sequestering agent is immobilized on the surface(s) of said container and has a stability constant greater than 1010 with iron (III) and said antimicrobial agent comprises an antimicrobial active material selected from benzoic acid, sorbic acid, nisin, thymol, allicin, peroxides, imazalil, triclosan, benomyl, metal-ion release agents, metal colloids, anhydrides, and organic quaternary ammonium salts. 24. The fluid container of claim 19 wherein said metal-ion sequestering agent is immobilized on the surface(s) of said container and has a stability constant greater than 1010 with iron (III) and said antimicrobial agent comprises a metal ion selected from one of the following: silver; copper; gold; nickel; tin; and zinc. 25. The fluid container of claim 19 wherein said sequestering agent is immobilized on the surface(s) of said container and has a high-affinity for biologically important metal ions comprising Mn, Mg, Zn, Cu, and Fe. 26. The fluid container of claim 19 wherein said sequestering agent is immobilized on the surface(s) of said container and has a high selectivity for biologically important metal ions comprising Mn, Mg, Zn, Cu, and Fe. 27. The fluid container of claim 19 wherein said sequestering agent has a high selectivity for certain metal ions but a low-affinity for at least one other ion. 28. The fluid container of claim 27 wherein said certain metal ions comprises Mn, Mg, Zn, Cu and Fe and said other at least one ion comprises calcium. 29. The fluid container of claim 19 wherein said inorganic nanoparticles have an average particle size of less than 200 nm and the derivatized nanoparticles have a stability constant greater than 1010 with iron (III). 30. The fluid container of claim 19 wherein said container comprises a bottle. 31. The fluid container of claim 30 wherein said bottle is made of a plastic material. 32. The fluid container of claim 19 wherein said liquid nutrient comprises a beverage. 33.
