A skag having a rod/elongated rod and rearwardly-angled threaded studs upwardly-extending immovably from the rod. The skag adapted to be connected to the bottom of a snowmobile ski to enhance the steering capabilities the snowmobile ski. The studs being angled with respect to a longitudinal axis of the skag in a direction opposite to that of the forward travel direction of the skag to decrease the shear stress on the weld fixing the stud to the rod and providing a security against installing the skags in the wrong orientation on the bottom of the ski.

We claim: 1. A snowmobile ski, comprising: a turned-up front end, a turned-up rear end and a generally flat middle therebetween; at least the middle having an elongated base having a topside and an underside; a keel extending away from the underside of the base; at least two nut contact surfaces formed in the topside of the base; and at least two holes adapted to receive studs of a skag, each of the at least two holes extending through the keel, the elongated base and a corresponding one of the at least two nut contact surfaces of the ski, each hole having a central longitudinal axis, the central longitudinal axis being angled at an angle opening away from the front of the ski, the angle being between 45 and 75 inclusive with respect to the generally flat middle of the ski. 2. The snowmobile ski of claim 1, wherein: a portion of the ski is attachable to a ski leg of a snowmobile; and the at least two holes include at least one hole disposed forwardly of the portion and at least one hole disposed rearwardly of the portion. 3. The snowmobile ski of claim 1, wherein: the keel is a first keel; the at least two nut contact surfaces are at least two first nut contact surfaces; the at least two holes are at least two first holes; and the skag is a first skag; the snowmobile ski further comprising: a second keel laterally spaced apart from the first keel; at least two second nut contact surfaces formed in the topside of the base; and at least two second holes adapted to receive studs of a second skag, each of the at least two second holes extending through the second keel, the elongated base and a corresponding one of the at least two second nut contact surfaces of the ski, each second hole having a central longitudinal axis, the central longitudinal axis being angled at an angle opening away from the front of the ski, the angle being between 45 and 75 inclusive with respect to the generally flat middle of the ski. 4. The snowmobile ski of claim 3, wherein one of the first keel and the second keel extends along a center of the ski. 5. The snowmobile ski of claim 3, wherein: a portion of the ski is attachable to a ski leg of a snowmobile; the at least two first holes include at least one first hole disposed forwardly of the portion and at least one first hole disposed rearwardly of the portion; and the at least two second holes include at least one second hole disposed forwardly of the portion and at least one second hole disposed rearwardly of the portion. 6. A snowmobile ski, comprising: a turned-up front end, a turned-up rear end and a generally flat middle therebetween; at least the middle having an elongated base having a topside and an underside; a keel extending away from the underside of the base; at least two nut contact surfaces; and at least two holes adapted to receive studs of a skag, each of the at least two holes extending through the keel, the elongated base and a corresponding one of the at least two nut contact surfaces of the ski, the nut contact surfaces being angled with respect to the generally flat middle of the ski at an angle opening toward the front of the ski, the angle being between 15 and 45 inclusive. 7. The snowmobile ski of claim 6, wherein: a portion of the ski is attachable to a ski leg of a snowmobile; and the at least two nut contact surfaces include at least one nut contact surface disposed forwardly of the portion and at least one nut contact surface disposed rearwardly of the portion. 8. The snowmobile ski of claim 6, wherein: the keel is a first keel; the at least two nut contact surfaces are at least two first nut contact surfaces; the at least two holes are at least two first holes; and the skag is a first skag; the snowmobile ski further comprising: a second keel laterally spaced apart from the first keel; at least two second nut contact surfaces formed in the topside of the base; and at least two second holes adapted to receive the studs of a second skag, each of the at least two second holes extending through the second keel, the elongated base and a corresponding one of the at least two second nut contact surfaces surface of the ski, the second nut contact surfaces being angled with respect to the generally flat middle of the ski at an angle opening toward the front of the ski, the angle being between 15 and 45 inclusive. 9. The snowmobile ski of claim 8, wherein one of the first keel and the second keel extends along a center of the ski. 10. The snowmobile ski of claim 8, wherein: a portion of the ski is attachable to a ski leg of a snowmobile; the at least two first nut contact surfaces include at least one first nut contact surface disposed forwardly of the portion and at least one first nut contact surface disposed rearwardly of the portion; and the at least two second nut contact surfaces include at least one second nut contact surface disposed forwardly of the portion and at least one second nut contact surface disposed rearwardly of the portion.
