What is claimed is: 1. An isolated nucleic acid comprising a regulatory region comprising the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:1, wherein said regulatory region directs transcription, in a plant ovule within 24 hours post-fertilization, of an operably linked heterologous polynucleotide.
