초록

A snow vehicle has a steering assembly for steering a ski, an endless track to propel the vehicle, and an engine to power the endless track. A platform is provided for a rider of the vehicle to stand on while operating the vehicle. An exhaust chamber of the vehicle is disposed between the steering assembly and the forward end of the platform.

What is claimed is: 1. A snow vehicle comprising: a frame having a first generally horizontal frame portion and a second frame portion extending generally upwardly from a forward portion of the first frame portion; a steering assembly operatively connected to a forward portion of the frame; at least one ski connected to the steering assembly; a platform disposed on the first frame portion to accommodate a rider in a standing position; an endless track mounted to the first frame portion below the platform to propel the snow vehicle; an engine mounted to the frame and operatively connected to the endless track to power the endless track, the engine having an exhaust port; an exhaust chamber in fluid communication with the exhaust port to receive exhaust gases from the engine, the exhaust chamber being disposed between the steering assembly and the forward portion of the platform when viewed from a side elevation view of the vehicle; an exhaust conduit extending from the exhaust chamber to an outlet for fluidly communicating the exhaust chamber with the atmosphere, the outlet being disposed between the steering assembly and the forward portion of the platform when viewed from a side elevation view of the vehicle; wherein the engine comprises a crankcase and a cylinder having a cylinder axis; and wherein the cylinder axis extends generally horizontally and the exhaust chamber is disposed below the cylinder axis. 2. The snow vehicle of claim 1, wherein the exhaust chamber is a muffler. 3. The snow vehicle of claim 2, wherein the exhaust conduit extends vertically downwardly from the muffler. 4. The snow vehicle of claim 3, wherein the exhaust conduit extends from a central portion of the muffler. 5. The snow vehicle of claim 2, wherein the muffler is disposed transversely to a longitudinal axis of the snow vehicle. 6. The snow vehicle of claim 1, wherein the exhaust chamber is disposed at least partially below the engine. 7. The snow vehicle of claim 6, further comprising a shield disposed between the engine and the exhaust chamber. 8. The snow vehicle of claim 6, further comprising a fuel tank mounted to the second frame portion above the engine. 9. The snow vehicle of claim 1, wherein the steering assembly further comprises a suspension element; and wherein the exhaust chamber is disposed between the suspension element and the forward portion of the platform. 10. The snow vehicle of claim 1, further comprising a centrifugal clutch operatively connected to the engine; and wherein the engine powers the endless track via the centrifugal clutch. 11. The snow vehicle of claim 1, wherein the frame further comprises a third frame portion extending forwardly from the first frame portion below the second frame portion. 12. The snow vehicle of claim 11, wherein the frame further comprises a generally extending central frame member joining the third frame member to the second frame member. 13. The snow vehicle of claim 12, wherein the steering assembly is pivotally mounted to the central frame member. 14. The snow vehicle of claim 11, wherein the exhaust chamber is mounted to the third frame portion. 15. The snow vehicle of claim 14, wherein the engine is mounted to the third frame portion. 16. A snow vehicle comprising: a frame having a first generally horizontal frame portion and a second frame portion extending generally upwardly from a forward portion of the first frame portion; a steering assembly pivotally connected to a forward portion of the frame, the steering assembly pivoting about a steering axis; a ski connected to the steering assembly; a platform disposed on the first frame portion to accommodate a rider in a standing position; an endless track mounted to the first frame portion below the platform to propel the snow vehicle; an engine mounted to the frame and operatively connected to the endless track to power the endless track, the engine having an exhaust port and a cylinder axis, the cylinder axis extending generally horizontally; a muffler in fluid communication with the exhaust port to receive exhaust gases from the engine, the muffler being disposed rearwardly of the steering axis and below the cylinder axis when viewed from a side elevation view of the vehicle; and an exhaust conduit extending from the muffler for fluidly communicating the muffler with the atmosphere. 17. The snow vehicle of claim 16, wherein the muffler is disposed forwardly of the platform. 18. The snow vehicle of claim 16, wherein the exhaust conduit extends vertically downwardly from the muffler. 19. The snow vehicle of claim 16, wherein the muffler is disposed transversely to a longitudinal axis of the snow vehicle.
