A spatter guard for covering food in an oven. The guard includes: a first shell configured to cover food, having: a first semi-hemispherical barrier member with a plurality of apertures therein. Additionally, there is a second shell pivotally coupled to the first shell to substantially form a hemispherical barrier and an array of substantially parallel semi-hemispherical barriers. The array includes a second semi-hemispherical barrier member with a plurality of apertures therein. Moreover, the first shell has a plurality of protrusions extending downwardly from a bottom of the first hemispherical barrier member to space the first shell from a surface. Further, there is a flange that extends outwardly from a bottom of the first hemispherical barrier member. Further, the second shell has a protrusion extending outwardly therefrom and is configured to be used as a handle for actuating the second shell between the first and second positions.

What is claimed is: 1. A splatter guard for covering food in an oven, comprising: a) a first shell configured to cover food, including: a1) a first semi-hemispherical barrier member; and a2) a first plurality of apertures through the first semi-hemispherical barrier member; b) a second shell pivot
What is claimed is: 1. A splatter guard for covering food in an oven, comprising: a) a first shell configured to cover food, including: a1) a first semi-hemispherical barrier member; and a2) a first plurality of apertures through the first semi-hemispherical barrier member; b) a second shell pivotally coupled to the first shell wherein the first and second shells together substantially form a hemispherical barrier when in a first position and form an array of substantially parallel semi-hemispherical barriers when in a second position, including: b1) a second semi-hemispherical barrier member; and b2) a second plurality of apertures through the second semi-hemispherical barrier member; c) a first flange, wherein the first flange extends diagonally from the first shell with respect to a seam between the first and second shells, and also includes a downward extending first leg; d) a second flange, wherein the second flange extends diagonally from the second shell with respect to the seam between the first and second shells, and also includes a downward extending second leg; and e) a first arm, wherein the arm extends substantially perpendicular from the first shell with respect to the seam between the first shell and the second shell, and also includes a downward extending third leg. 2. A splatter guard as in claim 1, wherein the third leg is angularly disposed between, but not equal distance from, the first and second legs. 3. A splatter guard as in claim 1, wherein the third leg is angularly disposed between the first and second legs. 4. A splatter guard as in claim 1, wherein the first and second legs are disposed at an angular distance greater than 45 degrees. 5. A splatter guard as in claim 1, wherein the first and second legs are disposed at an angular distance greater than about 90 degrees. 6. A splatter guard as in claim 1, wherein the first and second legs are disposed at an angular distance between about 60 and about 120 degrees. 7. A splatter guard as in claim 1, wherein the first and second legs are disposed at an angular distance greater than about 120 degrees. 8. A splatter guard as in claim 1, wherein the first, second, and third legs are collinear. 9. A splatter guard as in claim 8, wherein the first, second, and third legs are collinear within a diameter of a leg. 10. A splatter guard as in claim 1, wherein the first flange is coupled to the arm by a third flange. 11. A splatter guard as in claim 1, wherein a fourth flange, a fifth flange, a sixth flange and a second arm, are substantially mirror configurations of the first, second, third flanges, and the first arm, respectively. 12. A splatter guard as in claim 1, wherein a fourth leg, fifth leg, and sixth leg, are substantially mirror configurations of the first leg, second leg, and third leg, respectively.
