Peritoneal Dialysis systems, methods, and catheters are provided for performing peritoneal dialysis therapies. Multiple fluid pathways are provided to a patient's peritoneal cavity for conveying dialysis fluid to and from the patient.

The invention is claimed as follows: 1. A method of performing peritoneal dialysis, comprising the steps of: conveying dialysis fluid to a peritoneal cavity through a catheter during a patient fill phase; allowing the dialysis fluid to dwell within the peritoneal cavity during a patient dwell phase

The invention is claimed as follows: 1. A method of performing peritoneal dialysis, comprising the steps of: conveying dialysis fluid to a peritoneal cavity through a catheter during a patient fill phase; allowing the dialysis fluid to dwell within the peritoneal cavity during a patient dwell phase; conveying dialysis fluid away from the peritoneal cavity through the catheter during a patient drain phase; and sensing at first and second sensing locations of a disposable cassette via first and second pressure sensors to measure intraperitoneal pressure through the catheter to optimize an amount of fluid conveyed during the patient fill phase, so that the peritoneal cavity is not overpressurized during the patient dwell phase. 2. The method of performing peritoneal dialysis of claim 1, further comprising repeating the conveying, dwelling, and sensing steps at least once. 3. The method of performing peritoneal dialysis of claim 1, wherein at least one of the steps of conveying dialysis fluid to the peritoneal cavity and conveying dialysis fluid away from the peritoneal cavity further comprises pumping the dialysis fluid. 4. The method of claim 1, which includes performing the sensing step during the fill phase. 5. The method of claim 1, which includes pumping from a pair of alternating pumps to convey dialysis fluid at least substantially continuously. 6. A method of performing peritoneal dialysis, comprising the steps of: providing a source of dialysis fluid; establishing a flow path from the source of dialysis fluid to a first lumen of a peritoneal dialysis catheter; establishing a flow path from a dialysis fluid drain to a second lumen of the peritoneal dialysis catheter; conveying dialysis fluid from the source of dialysis fluid through the source flow path and the first lumen and from the second lumen and the drain flow path to the dialysis fluid drain using a pair of membrane pumps alternating to form an at least substantially continuous flow through the first and second lumens; and sensing an intraperitoneal pressure to optimize at least one of an amount of fluid flowing through the first lumen and the second lumen. 7. The method of claim 6, further comprising using two sensors sensing intraperitoneal pressure to perform the at least one optimization. 8. The method of claim 6, further comprising the step of conveying fluid through the first lumen in a patient fill direction while conveying fluid through the second lumen in a patient drain direction. 9. The method of claim 6, further comprising the step of reversing a direction of flow in at least one of the flow paths. 10. The method of claim 6, which includes performing the sensing step while conveying the dialysis fluid. 11. The method of claim 6, further comprising using two sensors located in a cassette for sensing intraperitoneal pressure to perform the step of sensing. 12. A method of providing peritoneal dialysis to a patient, comprising the steps of: conveying dialysis fluid from a dialysis fluid container through a catheter to the patient; allowing the dialysis fluid to dwell within the patient; reversing a direction of dialysis fluid flow in the catheter away from the patient; and sensing at first and second sensing locations of a disposable cassette via first and second pressure sensors, the sensing locations in fluid communication with the catheter, an intraperitoneal pressure to optimize at least one of an amount of fluid flowing toward or from the patient, so that the patient is comfortable while the dialysis fluid dwells within the patient. 13. The method of claim 12, wherein the step of reversing a direction of dialysis fluid flow further comprises the step of operating a fluid control valve in a fluid path connected to the dialysis fluid container. 14. The method of claim 12, further comprising using two sensors sensing intraperitoneal pressure to perform the at least one optimization. 15. The method of claim 12, wherein flowing fluid away from the patient includes flowing fluid toward a disposable cassette. 16. The method of claim 12, which includes repeating the conveying, dwelling, reversing and sensing steps at least once. 17. The method of claim 12, which includes performing the sensing step during the conveying or reversing steps. 18. The method of claim 12, which includes conveying and reversing dialysis fluid flow using a pair of medical fluid pumps alternating to form at least substantially continuous fluid flows. 19. A method of performing peritoneal dialysis, comprising the steps of: pumping at least substantially continuously using a pair of alternating pumps to convey dialysis fluid to a peritoneal cavity through a catheter during a patient fill phase; allowing the dialysis fluid to dwell within the peritoneal cavity during a patient dwell phase; pumping at least substantially continuously using the pair of alternating pumps to convey dialysis fluid away from the peritoneal cavity through the catheter during a patient drain phase; and measuring intraperitoneal pressure through the catheter to optimize an amount of fluid conveyed during the patient fill phase, so that the peritoneal cavity is not overpressurized during the patient dwell phase.
