A pump apparatus driven by a prime mover, comprising: a housing comprising a first pump chamber, a second pump chamber, a gear chamber, and a partition, whereby the partition separates the first and second pump chambers and the first and second pump chambers are not in fluid communication with one another; a first hydraulic pump disposed in the first pump chamber and a second hydraulic pump disposed in the second pump chamber; an end cap mounted to the housing, the end cap having hydraulic porting formed therein and closing the first and second pump chambers, the end cap comprising a first running surface for the first hydraulic pump and a second running surface for the second hydraulic pump; a first input shaft disposed in the housing and engaged to and driving the first hydraulic pump; and a second input shaft disposed in the housing and engaged to and driving the second hydraulic pump. 2. The pump apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a gear train located in the gear chamber, the gear train comprising a first gear engaged to the first input shaft and a second gear engaged to the second input shaft. 3. The pump apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a charge pump mounted on the end cap and driven by one of the first or second input shafts. 4. The pump apparatus of claim 3, further comprising an auxiliary pump mounted on the end cap and driven by the other of the first or second input shafts. 5. The pump apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first and second pump chambers are segregated from the gear chamber so that the gear chamber is not in fluid communication with either of the pump chambers. 6. The pump apparatus of claim 1, wherein the housing consists of a single piece. 7. The pump apparatus of claim 1, further comprising: a first swash plate apparatus disposed in the first pump chamber and engaged to the first hydraulic pump; a first trunnion arm engaged to the first swash plate apparatus and extending out of the first pump chamber; a second swash plate apparatus disposed in the second pump chamber and engaged to the second hydraulic pump; and a second trunnion arm engaged to the second swash plate apparatus and extending out of the second pump chamber. 8. The pump apparatus of claim 7, wherein the first and second trunnion arms are generally parallel to each other and extend out of opposite sides of the housing. 9. A pump apparatus having a first side and a second side and for use in connection with a vehicle driven by a prime mover, the pump apparatus comprising: a first hydraulic pump disposed in a first pump chamber and comprising a first rotatable cylinder block having a plurality of pistons disposed therein; a second hydraulic pump disposed in a second pump chamber that is separated from the first pump chamber, whereby the first pump chamber is not in fluid communication with the second pump chamber, the second hydraulic pump comprising a second rotatable cylinder block having a plurality of pistons disposed therein; a first input shaft drivingly engaged to and extending through the first rotatable cylinder block, wherein a proximal end of the first input shaft is located on one side of the first rotatable cylinder block and a distal end of the first input shaft extends through a gear chamber located on the opposite side of the first rotatable cylinder block, and the distal end is mounted to a pulley to engage the prime mover; a second input shaft drivingly engaged to and extending through the second rotatable cylinder block, wherein a proximal end of the second input shaft is located on one side of the second rotatable cylinder block and a distal end of the second input shaft is located on the opposite side of the second hydraulic pump cylinder block; and a plurality of gears located in the gear chamber, wherein one of the gears is connected to the first input shaft and another of the gears is connected to the second input shaft. 10. The pump apparatus of claim 9, wherein the gear connected to the first input shaft and the gear connected to the second input shaft are spur gears and the gear connected to the second input shaft is driven by the gear connected to the first input shaft. 11. The pump apparatus of claim 9, further comprising an end cap closing the first and second pump chambers and having hydraulic porting formed therein, the end cap comprising a first running surface for the first hydraulic pump and a second running surface for the second hydraulic pump. 12. The pump apparatus of claim 9, further comprising a first charge pump engaged to and driven by the first input shaft, wherein the first charge pump is located adjacent to the proximal end of the first input shaft. 13. The pump apparatus of claim 12, wherein the first charge pump comprises a charge pump housing mounted external to the first and second pump chambers, and the first input shaft extends through the charge pump housing. 14. The pump apparatus of claim 13, further comprising a second charge pump engaged to and driven by the proximal end of the second input shaft. 15. The pump apparatus of claim 9, further comprising an auxiliary pump engaged to and driven by one of the input shafts. 16. The pump apparatus of claim 9, wherein the gear chamber is not in fluid communication with the pump chambers. 17. A pump apparatus driven by a prime mover, comprising: a housing comprising a first pump chamber, a second pump chamber, and a partition, whereby the partition separates the first and second pump chambers into separate chambers, wherein the pump chambers are not in fluid communication with one another; a first hydraulic pump disposed in the first pump chamber and a second hydraulic pump disposed in the second pump chamber; a first input shaft drivingly engaged to the first hydraulic pump; a second input shaft drivingly engaged to the second hydraulic pump and having an axis parallel and noncollinear to the axis of the first input shaft; an end cap mounted to the housing and containing hydraulic porting formed therein and closing the first and second pump chambers; and a gear chamber located adjacent to the housing and having a gear train mounted therein, the gear train comprising a first gear engaged to the first input shaft and a second gear engaged to the second input shaft. 18. The pump apparatus of claim 17, wherein the first input shaft extends through the gear chamber, and a pulley is mounted on an end of the first input shaft to engage the prime mover. 19. The pump apparatus of claim 17, further comprising a first charge pump engaged to and driven by the first input shaft. 20. The pump apparatus of claim 19, further comprising a second charge pump engaged to and driven by the second input shaft. 21. The pump apparatus of claim 17, wherein the first and second gears are spur gears. 22. The pump apparatus of claim 17, wherein the first and second pump chambers are segregated from the gear chamber so that fluid does not flow from either of the pump chambers to the gear chamber. 23. The pump apparatus of claim 17, further comprising an auxiliary pump engaged to and driven by one of the input shafts. 24. The pump apparatus of claim 17, wherein the housing consists of a single piece. 25. The pump apparatus of claim 17, further comprising: a first swash plate apparatus disposed in the first pump chamber and engaged to the first hydraulic pump; a first trunnion arm engaged to the first swash plate apparatus and extending out of the first pump chamber; a second swash plate apparatus disposed in the second pump chamber and engaged to the second hydraulic pump; and a second trunnion arm engaged to the second swash plate apparatus and extending out of the second pump chamber. 26. The pump apparatus of claim 25, wherein the first and second trunnion arms are generally parallel to each other and extend out of opposite sides of the housing. 27. A pump apparatus driven by a prime mover, comprising: a first pump chamber having a first end and a second end; second pump chamber parallel to and adjacent to the first pump chamber and having a first end and a second end, wherein the second pump chamber is not in fluid communication with the first pump chamber; a first hydraulic pump disposed in the first pump chamber and a second hydraulic pump disposed in the second pump chamber; a first input shaft extending into the first end of the first pump chamber and drivingly engaged to the first hydraulic pump; a second input shaft extending into the first end of the second pump chamber and drivingly engaged to the second hydraulic pump and having an axis parallel and noncollinear to the axis of the first input shaft; an end cap mounted to a housing and containing hydraulic porting formed therein, the end cap closing the second end of the first and second pump chambers; and a gear chamber located adjacent to the first end of the first pump chamber and the first end of the second pump chamber and having a gear train mounted therein, the gear train comprising a first gear engaged to the first input shaft and a second gear engaged to the second input shaft.
