What is claimed is: 1. A method for tax form submittal verification comprising: maintaining an electronically stored profile for a user in a customer database, wherein the profile identifies an expected tax form the user is expected to file, and wherein the customer database is in communication with a tax service server via a network; maintaining an electronic inbox for the user; generating correspondence at the tax service server, wherein the correspondence includes a reminder that the user file a tax form; sending the correspondence to the electronic inbox of the user, and sending the user a separate notification that the electronic inbox includes the correspondence via the network; receiving on the tax service server additional tax-related data from the user, wherein the additional tax-related data is not included in the profile, and wherein the additional tax-related data is required for completing the expected tax form; electronically completing a selected tax form via the tax service server, wherein completing the selected tax form includes automatically filling out the selected tax form based on the profile and the additional tax-related data; filing the completed selected tax form with a government entity, wherein the completed selected tax form is electronically transmitted from the tax service server to the government entity across the network to be a filed tax form; electronically storing a receipt record of the filed tax form in a database in communication with the tax service server substantially immediately upon completed transmittal of the tax form, wherein the receipt record represents an indication that the filed tax form has been submitted and includes information regarding a status of the filed tax form and wherein the receipt record is distinct from the filed tax form; and sending the receipt record of the filed tax form to the electronic inbox of the user. 2. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving a tax payment of the user by the government entity utilizing the network. 3. The method of claim 2, further comprising storing a receipt record of the tax payment in the database in communication with the tax service server, wherein the record represents an indication that the payment has been submitted. 4. The method of claim 3, further comprising receiving from the user a request for the receipt record of the tax payment utilizing the network. 5. The method of claim 1, further comprising permitting the user to access the electronic inbox upon a successful authentication of the identity of the user. 6. A method as recited in claim 5, wherein the authenticating an identity of the user includes validating a digital certificate and storing the digital certificate on a computer of the user. 7. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the filing of the completed selected tax form with the government entity utilizing a network includes the Internet. 8. A method as recited in claim 1, and further comprising the step of formatting the receipt record for being printed by the user. 9. A method as recited in claim 1, and further comprising the step of sending a notification relating to the receipt record to a mail server of the user utilizing the network. 10. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising: receiving from the user a request for the receipt record of the filed tax form to verify the filing of the completed selected tax form utilizing the network, wherein the request is transmitted across the network from a client computer to the government entity; and authenticating an identity of the user utilizing the network to request the receipt record, wherein the identity is authenticated by requesting a password and a digital certificate from the user and validating the password and the digital certificates as belonging to the user; wherein the receipt record of the filed tax form is sent to the user across the network to the client computer subsequent to the successful authentication of the identity of the user. 11. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the tax form and the receipt record of the filed tax form are presented to the user through a website provided by the government entity. 12. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising displaying the receipt record of the filed tax form to the user immediately after the tax form has been submitted, thereby providing the user with the status of the tax form transmission to the government entity, wherein displaying the receipt record further includes displaying payment information and a unique receipt identifier for the tax form submitted to the government entity. 13. A computer program embodied on a computer readable medium for tax form submittal verification that when executed comprises: a code segment that maintains an electronically stored profile for a user in a customer database, wherein the profile identifies an expected tax form the user is expected to file, and wherein the customer database is in communication with a tax service server via a network; a code segment that maintains an electronic inbox for the user; a code segment that generates correspondence at the tax service server, wherein the correspondence includes a reminder that the user file a tax form; a code segment that sends the correspondence to the electronic inbox of the user, and sends the user a separate notification that the electronic inbox includes the correspondence via the network; a code segment that receives on the tax service server additional tax-related data from the user, wherein the additional tax-related data is not included in the profile, and wherein the additional tax-related data is required for completing the expected tax form; a code segment that electronically completes a selected tax form, including automatically filling out the selected tax form based on the profile and the additional tax-related data; a code segment that files the completed selected tax form with a government entity, wherein the completed selected tax form is electronically transmitted from the tax service server to the government entity across the network to be a filed tax form; a code segment that electronically stores a receipt record of the filed tax form in a database in communication with the tax service server substantially immediately upon completed transmittal of the tax form, wherein the receipt record represents an indication that the filed tax form has been submitted and includes information regarding a status of the filed tax form and wherein the receipt record is distinct from the filed tax form; and a code segment that sends the receipt record of the filed tax form to the electronic inbox of the user. 14. A computer program as recited in claim 13, and further comprising a code segment that receives a tax payment of the user by the government entity utilizing the network. 15. A computer program as recited in claim 14, and further comprising a code segment that stores a receipt record of the tax payment in the database in communication with the tax service server, wherein the receipt record represents an indication that the payment has been submitted. 16. A computer program as recited in claim 15, and further comprising a code segment that receives from the user a request for the receipt record of the tax payment utilizing the network. 17. A computer program as recited in claim 13, and further comprising a code segment that permitting the user to access the electronic inbox upon a successful authentication of the identity of the user. 18. A computer program as recited in claim 17, wherein the authenticating an identity of the user includes validating a digital certificate and storing the digital certificate on the client computer. 19. A computer program as recited in claim 13, wherein the network includes the Internet. 20. A computer program as recited in claim 13, and further comprising a code segment that formats the receipt record for being printed by the user. 21. A computer program as recited in claim 13, and further comprising a code segment that sends a notification relating to the receipt record to a mail server of the user utilizing the network. 22. A computer program as recited in claim 13, further comprising: a code segment that receives from the user a request for the receipt record of the filed tax form to verify the filing of the completed selected tax form utilizing the network, wherein the request is transmitted across the network from a client computer to the government entity; and a code segment that authenticates an identity of the user utilizing the network to request the receipt record, wherein the identity is authenticated by requesting a password and a digital certificate from the user and validating the password and the digital certificates as belonging to the user; wherein the receipt record of the filed tax form is sent to the user across the network to the client computer subsequent to the successful authentication of the identity of the user. 23. A computer program as recited in claim 13, wherein the tax form and the receipt record of the filed tax form are presented to the user through a website provided by the government entity. 24. A computer program as recited in claim 13, further comprising a code segment that displays the receipt record of the filed tax form to the user immediately after the tax form has been submitted, thereby providing the user with the status of the tax form transmission to the government entity, wherein the display of the receipt record further includes a display of payment information and a unique receipt identifier for the tax form submitted to the government entity.
