초록

A casing mandrel for an independent screwed wellhead includes a seal bore for receiving a fixed-point packoff connected to a high-pressure mandrel of a pressure isolation tool, and a pin thread adapted for engagement with a box thread of a tubing head supported by the casing mandrel.

I claim: 1. A casing mandrel for wells completed using an independent screwed wellhead, comprising: a casing mandrel body having an annular shoulder adapted for mating engagement with a top flange of a casing bowl nut of the independent screwed wellhead, an outer contour below the annular shoulder that mates with a casing bowl of the independent screwed wellhead, an axial passage that extends from a casing mandrel bottom end to a casing mandrel top end of the casing mandrel body, the axial passage having a diameter at least as large as an internal diameter of a casing that the casing mandrel suspends in the well, and a seal bore at a top of the axial passage, the seal bore having a larger diameter than the axial passage and adapted to receive a fixed-point packoff connected to a high pressure mandrel of a pressure isolation tool; and the casing mandrel top end extends above the annular shoulder and includes a pin thread located above a top of the casing bowl nut when the casing bowl nut secures the casing mandrel to the independent screwed wellhead, the pin thread adapted to be engaged by a box thread of a tubing head supported by the casing mandrel. 2. The casing mandrel as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a smooth cylindrical outer surface above the pin thread that is contacted by elastomeric seals supported in a seal bore in the tubing head above the box thread to provide a fluid seal between the casing mandrel and the tubing head when the tubing head is supported by the casing mandrel. 3. The casing mandrel as claimed in claim 2 wherein the elastomeric seals are O-rings. 4. The casing mandrel as claimed in claim 1 wherein the outer contour below the annular shoulder that mates with the casing bowl of the wellhead includes at least one groove for retaining an elastomeric seal that seals against the casing bowl. 5. The casing mandrel as claimed in claim 4 wherein the elastomeric seal comprises an O-ring. 6. A casing mandrel for an independent screwed wellhead comprising: a bottom end supported in a casing bowl of the independent screwed wellhead, the bottom end including a first annular shoulder engaged by a casing bowl nut of the independent screwed wellhead to secure the casing mandrel in the independent screwed wellhead; a top end that extends above a top of a lockdown nut, the top end comprising a pin thread adapted to support a tubing head of the independent screwed wellhead and a smooth cylindrical seal surface above the pin thread engaged by elastomeric seals received in seal grooves in the tubing head; an axial passage that extends from the top end to the bottom end, the axial passage having an inner diameter at least as large as an inner diameter of the casing supported by the casing mandrel, and a seal bore at the top end adapted to receive a fixed-point packoff connected to a high-pressure mandrel of a pressure isolation tool that provides full-bore access to the casing when the fixed-point packoff is received in the seal bore. 7. The casing mandrel as claimed in claim 6 further comprising a second annular shoulder located above the first annular shoulder, the second annular shoulder supporting a bottom end of the tubing head when the tubing head is supported by the casing mandrel. 8. The casing mandrel as claimed in claim 6 wherein the top end further comprises a beveled shoulder for guiding downhole tools into the seal bore. 9. The casing mandrel as claimed in claim 6 wherein an outer contour below the first annular shoulder that mates with the casing bowl of the wellhead includes at least one groove for retaining an elastomeric seal that seals against the casing bowl. 10. The casing mandrel as claimed in claim 9 wherein the elastomeric seal comprises an O-ring. 11. A method of preparing a well equipped with an independent screwed wellhead for production, comprising: mounting a well control mechanism to a top of an independent screwed wellhead with a tubing head threadedly secured to a casing mandrel that supports a production casing in a well bore, the casing mandrel comprising an axial passage that extends from a casing mandrel bottom end to a casing mandrel top end, the axial passage having a diameter at least as large as an internal diameter of the production casing that the casing mandrel supports, and a seal bore having a larger diameter at a top of the axial passage for receiving a fixed-point packoff connected to a high-pressure mandrel of a pressure isolation tool to permit well stimulation fluids to be pumped into the casing of the well; mounting the pressure isolation tool to a top of the well control mechanism; and inserting the high-pressure mandrel with the fixed-point packoff down through the well control mechanism and the tubing head and so that the fixed-point packoff is received in the seal bore and provides a high pressure fluid seal to protect the independent screwed wellhead while well stimulation fluids are pumped into the production casing. 12. The method as claimed in claim 11 further comprising: lubricating a perforating gun through the pressure isolation tool and into the production casing; perforating the production casing to provide fluid communication with a production zone of the well; and lubricating the perforating gun out of the production casing and the pressure isolation tool. 13. The method as claimed in claim 12 further comprising flowing back high pressure well stimulation fluids after the high pressure well stimulation fluids have been pumped into the production zone. 14. The method as claimed in claim 13 further comprising determining whether a last production zone of the well has been stimulated. 15. The method as claimed in claim 14 wherein if the last production zone of the well has not been stimulated, the method further comprises: lubricating in an isolation plug to isolate stimulated production zones from production zones that have not been stimulated. 16. The method as claimed in claim 15 further comprising: lubricating the perforating gun into the production casing of the well; perforating the production casing to provide fluid communication with a production zone that has not been stimulated; and lubricating the perforating gun out of the production casing of the well. 17. The method as claimed in claim 16 further comprising flowing back high pressure well stimulation fluids after the high pressure well stimulation fluids have been pumped into the production zone that had not been stimulated. 18. The method as claimed in claim 17 further comprising running production tubing into the well. 19. The method as claimed in claim 18 further comprising mounting a tubing mandrel to the production tubing and landing the tubing mandrel in a tubing mandrel bowl of the tubing head. 20. The method as claimed in claim 19 further comprising mounting flow control equipment to a top of the tubing head.
