The invention claimed is: 1. A device for applying a flowable medium to a surface, comprising: a container configured to support the flowable medium, the container including an outlet opening; equipment to be worn on a back, the equipment including supporting straps and a mounting plate attached thereto for holding the container; a hose including a first end and a second end; a hose adapter for attaching the first end of the hose to the outlet opening of the container, the hose adapter including a ventilating element; a handle including an end and an outlet located proximal to the end; a wiping or applying device mounted to the end of the handle; a duct extending from the first end of the hose to the second end of the hose, and from the second end of the hose, along the handle, to the outlet, to conduct the flowable medium from the container to the outlet, when the first end of the hose is attached to the outlet opening of the container; and wherein the outlet is spaced apart from the wiping or applying device in order to enable the flowable medium to be dispensed directly onto the surface. 2. The device of claim 1, wherein the equipment further includes a cask receiver coupled to the mounting plate to hold the container. 3. The device of claim 2, wherein: the cask receiver is coupled to the mounting plate by a quick action coupling device; and the quick action coupling device includes a clip element and a plug element, both mounted to the cask receiver, and a hook-in element and a clamping element, both fastened to the mounting plate, the clip element mating with the hook-in element and the plug element mating with the clamping element. 4. The device of claim 1, wherein the hose adapter further includes a shut off device. 5. The device of claim 1, wherein the hose adapter further includes a hose quick-action coupling. 6. The device of claim 1, further comprising a metering valve mounted at the handle, in proximity to the second end of the hose, the metering valve for regulating throughflow, within the duct, of the flowable medium.
