A dispenser adapted to be coupled to a fluid container. The dispenser comprises a dispensing head, an energy source, and a fluid pathway. The dispensing head includes a fluid pump, a motor adapted to power the pump, a trigger adapted to control the motor, and a nozzle orifice in fluid communication with a discharge end of the pump. The fluid pathway has one portion in fluid communication with an intake end of the pump and another portion inside the container. In one embodiment, the fluid pump is a peristaltic pump. The present invention may further include a valve having a membrane for controlling flow through the valve, the membrane having open and closed positions; and an element urges the membrane to the closed position, and a vacuum pressure at one end of the valve may overcome the urging of the element, thereby moving the membrane to the open position.

The dispenser according to claim 1 further comprising a lock, wherein the lock has a first and second position, the first position allowing the trigger to be actuated and the second position preventing the trigger from being actuated. 3. The dispenser according to claim 1 further comprising a valve in the conduit, wherein the valve allows fluid to flow in only one direction, the one direction being towards the peristaltic pump. 4. The dispenser according to claim 3, wherein the valve is a duck bill material memory slotted valve. 5. The dispenser according to claim 1, wherein the energy source includes a first rigid electrical contact, wherein the first electrical contact comes in contact with a second rigid electrical contact when the trigger is actuated, thereby completing an electrical circuit and activating the motor. 6. The dispenser according to claim 1, further comprising an air return valve for returning air to the container. 7. The dispenser according to claim 6, wherein the air return valve comprises: a first and a second side; a membrane for controlling a flow through the valve between the first and second sides, the membrane having open and closed positions; an element urging the membrane to a closed position, wherein a vacuum pressure at one of the first or second sides overcomes the urging of the element, thereby moving the membrane to the open position; and an actuator for one of easing or initiating the movement of the membrane. 8. The dispenser according to claim 7, wherein the air return valve is a one-way valve, allowing flow from one side to the other. 9. The dispenser according to claim 8, wherein the membrane is an umbrella-like valve membrane. 10. The dispenser according to claim 8, wherein the vacuum pressure is operably coupled to the second side. 11. A dispenser adapted to be coupled to a container to dispense a substance in the container, the dispenser comprising: a dispensing head including a peristaltic pump, a pump housing shell, a motor, and a gear and roller assembly adapted to power the peristaltic pump, a trigger adapted to actuate the motor, a conduit having a first end in fluid communication with a nozzle orifice and a second end in fluid communication with the container; and a valve assembly in the dispensing head and operably connected to the container, the valve assembly allowing air flow into the container, wherein a valve membrane in the valve assembly is opened by the creation of a vacuum in the container, an enemy source electrically connected to the motor; wherein the energy source is isolated from the peristaltic pump, motor, trigger, and nozzle orifice, the energy source extending inside the container; and wherein the peristaltic pump includes an roller driven by the gear and roller assembly, the roller repeatedly compressing the conduit as the roller rotates within the pump housing shell to dispense the substance. 12. The dispenser according to claim 11, wherein the valve membrane is an umbrella-like valve membrane. 13. The dispenser according to claim 11, wherein the valve assembly further comprises a spring member to provide a closed bias to the valve membrane that the vacuum in the container overcomes in order to open the valve membrane. 14. The dispenser according to claim 11, wherein the valve assembly further comprises mechanical means for initiating the opening of the valve membrane. 15. The dispenser according to claim 14, wherein the mechanical means for initiating the opening of the valve membrane is actuated by actuation of the trigger. 16. The dispenser according to claim 11, wherein the valve assembly further comprises a mechanical rod that initiates the opening of the valve membrane by contacting the valve membrane. 17. The dispenser according to claim 16, wherein the mechanical rod is actuated by actuation of the trigger. 18. The dispenser according to claim 17, wherein the vacuum in the container is created by pumping fluid from the container. 19. The dispenser according to claim 11, further comprising an energy source electrically connected to the motor, wherein the energy source is isolated from the peristaltic pump, motor, trigger, and nozzle orifice. 20. A dispenser adapted to be coupled to a container to dispense a substance in the container, the dispenser comprising: a dispensing head including a peristaltic pump, a motor and gear assembly adapted to power the peristaltic pump, a trigger adapted to actuate the motor, a conduit having a first end in fluid communication with a nozzle orifice and a second end in fluid communication with the container; an energy source electrically connected to the motor; and a valve in the conduit, wherein the energy source is isolated from the peristaltic pump, motor, trigger, and nozzle orifice, and wherein the valve allows fluid to flow in only one direction, the one direction being towards the peristaltic pump, and wherein the valve is a duck bill material memory slotted valve. 21.
