The present invention relates to a ceiling panel for suspended ceiling systems that is designed to create a moiré effect when viewed from below. The moiré ceiling panels are designed to fit into a standard suspended ceiling grid and include a semi-transparent upper layer, a semi-transparent lower layer, and a light diffusing layer. The lower layer includes a surface with a plurality of light passable apertures or surface areas to allow light from above the suspended ceiling to pass through. The upper layer also includes a surface with a plurality of light passable apertures or surface areas and is connected to the lower layer to form the moiré panel. The light diffusing layer is connected to the upper panel and is design to intensify the moiré pattern while simultaneously concealing the area above the panel.

The invention claimed is: 1. A bi-level ceiling panel which creates a moiré effect comprising: a first opaque layer having a first plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough; a second opaque layer attached to and overlying said first layer and including a second plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough; and said first layer is spaced apart by a moiré effectuating distance from said overlying second layer to create a gap between said layers, wherein the bi-level ceiling panel has only two spaced layers, the two spaced layers being the first opaque layer and the second opaque layer. 2. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 1, wherein said panel is adapted to be connected to a suspension ceiling grid. 3. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 1, wherein said first layer includes an upwardly extending flange along an edge of said first layer. 4. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 1, wherein the openings of the first plurality of openings and the second plurality of openings have a diameter of 0.120 to 0.150 inches, and the openings on the first layer are imperfectly aligned with the openings of the second layer so the openings on the first layer are randomly overlapped with the openings of the second layer for creating a pattern of light and dark lines as the moiré effect. 5. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 1, wherein the first layer and the second layer are metal. 6. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 1, wherein the second layer is angled relative to the first layer such that the second layer and first layer are not parallel. 7. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 1, wherein the openings are sized and the first and the second layer are spaced for creating the moiré effect on a ceiling employing said panels at a ceiling height of 8 to 10 feet. 8. A bi-level ceiling panel which creates a moiré effect comprising: a first opaque layer having a first plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough; a second opaque layer attached to and overlying said first layer and including a second plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough; and said first layer is spaced apart by a moiré effectuating distance from said overlying second layer to create a gap between said layers; wherein said first layer includes an upwardly extending flange along an edge of said first layer and wherein said flange includes an outwardly extending lip adapted to be connected to a suspension ceiling grid. 9. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 8, wherein said second layer includes a first side and a second side. 10. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 9, wherein said first side of said second layer includes a light diffusing layer. 11. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 10, wherein said light diffusing layer is sound absorbing. 12. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 11, wherein said light diffusing layer is made from a non-woven mat. 13. A suspension ceiling system for creating a moiré effect comprising: a plurality of grid members intersecting to form a grid; an illuminating source positioned above said grid; a plurality of panels having a first opaque layer with a first plurality of openings to allow for the passage of light from said illuminating source, said first layer adapted to be connected to said grid members; said plurality of panels having a second opaque layer overlying said first layer and having a second plurality of openings to allow for the passage of light from said illuminating source, said second layer also adapted to be connected to said grid members; said first layer is spaced apart from said second layer at a moiré effectuating distance to create a gap between said layers. 14. The suspension ceiling system of claim 13, wherein said grid members include a channel. 15. The suspension ceiling system of claim 14, wherein said first layer includes an upwardly extending flange. 16. The suspension ceiling system of claim 15, wherein said flange of said first layer is adapted to engage said channel of said grid members. 17. The suspension ceiling system of claim 13, wherein said second layer includes a light diffusing layer. 18. The suspension ceiling system of claim 17, wherein said light diffusing layer is sound absorbing. 19. The system of claim 13, wherein the openings of the first plurality of openings and the second plurality of openings have a diameter of 0.120 to 0.150 inches, and the openings on the first layer are imperfectly aligned with the openings of the second layer so the openings on the first layer are randomly overlapped with the openings of the second layer. 20. The system of claim 13, wherein the first layer and the second layer are metal. 21. The system of claim 13, wherein the second layer is angled relative to the first layer such that the second layer and first layer are not parallel. 22. The system of claim 13, wherein the openings are sized and the first and the second layer are spaced for creating the moiré effect on a ceiling employing said panels at a ceiling height of 8 to 10 feet. 23. A suspension ceiling system for creating a moiré effect comprising: a plurality of grid members intersecting to form a grid; an illuminating source positioned above said grid; a plurality of panels having a first opaque layer having a first plurality of openings to allow for the passage of light from said illuminating source, said panels adapted to be connected to said grid members; said plurality of panels having a second opaque layer overlying said first layer and having a second plurality of openings to allow for the passage of light from said illuminating source; said first layer is spaced apart from said second layer by a moiré effectuating distance to create a gap between said layers. 24. The suspension ceiling system of claim 23, wherein said first layer includes an upwardly extending flange along an edge of said first layer. 25. The suspension ceiling system of claim 24, wherein said flange includes an outwardly extending lip adapted to be connected to said grid. 26. The suspension ceiling system of claim 23, wherein said second layer includes a downwardly extending flange. 27. The suspension ceiling system of claim 26, wherein said flange of said second layer includes an outwardly extending lip. 28. The suspension ceiling system of claim 27, wherein said lip of said second layer is connected to said first layer. 29. The suspension ceiling system of claim 23, wherein said second layer includes a first side and a second side. 30. The suspension ceiling system of claim 29, wherein said first side of said second layer includes a light diffusing layer. 31. The suspension ceiling system of claim 30, wherein said light diffusing layer is sound absorbing. 32. The suspension ceiling system of claim 31, wherein said light diffusing layer is made from a non-woven mat. 33. The system of claim 23, wherein the openings of the first plurality of openings and the second plurality of openings have a diameter of 0.120 to 0.150 inches, and the openings on the first layer are imperfectly aligned with the openings of the second layer so the openings on the first layer are randomly overlapped with the openings of the second layer. 34. The system of claim 23, wherein the first layer and the second layer are metal. 35. A bi-level ceiling infill which creates a moiré effect comprising: a first opaque layer having a first plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough, said first layer adapted to be connected to a ceiling grid; a second opaque layer spaced at a moiré effectuating distance from and overlying said first layer and having a second plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough, said second layer adapted to be connected to said ceiling grid, wherein the bi-level ceiling infill has only two spaced layers, the two spaced layers being the first opaque layer and the second opaque layer. 38. The bi-level ceiling infill of claim 37, wherein the openings of the first plurality of openings and the second plurality of openings have a diameter of 0.120 to 0.150 inches, and the openings on the first layer are imperfectly aligned with the openings of the second layer so the openings on the first layer are randomly overlapped with the openings of the second layer. 39. The bi-level ceiling infill of claim 37, wherein the first layer and the second layer are metal. 40. The bi-level ceiling infill of claim 37, wherein the second layer is angled relative to the first layer such that the second layer and first layer are not parallel. 41. The bi-level ceiling infill of claim 37, wherein the openings are sized and the first and the second layer are spaced for creating the moiré effect on a ceiling employing said panels at a ceiling height of 8 to 10 feet. 42. A bi-level ceiling infill which creates a moiré effect comprising: a first opaque layer having a first plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough, said first layer adapted to be connected to a ceiling grid; a second opaque layer spaced at a moiré effectuating distance from and overlying said first layer and having a second plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough, said second layer adapted to be connected to said ceiling grid, wherein said first layer is supported by a ceiling grid clip. 43. The bi-level ceiling infill of claim 42, wherein said second layer is supported by a base member of said ceiling grid. 44. The bi-level ceiling infill of claim 42, wherein said first layer includes a top side and a bottom side. 45. The bi-level ceiling infill of claim 44, wherein said top side of said first layer includes a light diffusing layer. 46. The bi-level ceiling infill of claim 45, wherein said light diffusing layer is sound absorbing. 47. The bi-level ceiling infill of claim 46, wherein said light diffusing layer is made from a non-woven mat. 48. A bi-level ceiling panel which creates a moiré effect comprising: a first layer having light blocking regions and a first plurality of light penetrating regions, said light penetrating regions adapted to allow light from above said ceiling panel to pass through; a second layer attached to and overlying said first layer and including light blocking regions and a second plurality of light penetrating regions, said light penetrating regions adapted to allow light that has passed through said first layer to continue on to pass through said second layer; and said first layer is spaced apart from said second layer by a moiré effectuating distance to create a gap between said layers, wherein the bi-level ceiling panel has only two spaced layers, the two spaced layers being the first opaque layer and the second opaque layer. 49. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 48, wherein said light penetrating regions are in the form of apertures. 50. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 49, wherein said apertures are selected from the group consisting of round apertures, square apertures, slotted apertures, and triangular apertures. 51. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 48, wherein said light penetrating regions are formed from a translucent material. 52. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 48, wherein the openings of the first plurality of openings and the second plurality of openings have a diameter of 0.120 to 0.150 inches, and the openings on the first layer are imperfectly aligned with the openings of the second layer so the openings on the first layer are randomly overlapped with the openings of the second layer. 53. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 48, wherein the first layer and the second layer are metal. 54. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 48, wherein the second layer is angled relative to the first layer such that the second layer and first layer are not parallel. 55. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 48, wherein the openings are sized and the first and the second layer are spaced for creating the moiré effect on a ceiling employing said panels at a ceiling height of 8 to 10 feet. 56. A bi-level ceiling panel which creates a moiré effect comprising: a first opaque layer having a first plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough; a second opaque layer attached to said first layer and including a second plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough; said first layer is spaced apart from said second layer to create a gap between said layers; said first layer also including an upwardly extending flange along an edge of said first layer; said flange including an outwardly extending lip adapted to be connected to a suspension ceiling grid. 57. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 56, wherein the openings of the first plurality of openings and the second plurality of openings have a diameter of 0.120 to 0.150 inches, and the openings on the first layer are imperfectly aligned with the openings of the second layer so the openings on the first layer are randomly overlapped with the openings of the second layer. 58. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 56, wherein the first layer and the second layer are metal. 59. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 56, wherein the second layer is angled relative to the first layer such that the second layer and first layer are not parallel. 60. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 56, wherein the openings are sized and the first and the second layer are spaced for creating the moiré effect on a ceiling employing said panels at a ceiling height of 8 to 10 feet. 61. A bi-level ceiling panel which creates a moiré effect comprising: a first opaque layer having a first plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough; a second opaque layer attached to said first layer and including a second plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough; said first layer is spaced apart from said second layer to create a gap between said layers, said second layer includes a first side and a second side, wherein said first side of said second layer includes a light diffusing layer. 62. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 61, wherein the openings of the first plurality of openings and the second plurality of openings have a diameter of 0.120 to 0.150 inches, and the openings on the first layer are imperfectly aligned with the openings of the second layer so the openings on the first layer are randomly overlapped with the openings of the second layer. 63. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 61, wherein the first layer and the second layer are metal. 64. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 61, wherein the second layer is angled relative to the first layer such that the second layer and first layer are not parallel. 65. The bi-level ceiling panel of claim 61, wherein the openings are sized and the first and the second layer are spaced for creating the moiré effect on a ceiling employing said panels at a ceiling height of 8 to 10 feet. 66. A bi-level ceiling infill which creates a moiré effect comprising: a first opaque layer having a plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough, said first layer adapted to be connected to a ceiling grid; a second opaque layer spaced apart from said first layer and having a plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough, said second layer adapted to be connected to said ceiling grid; said second layer is supported by a base member of said ceiling grid. 67. A bi-level ceiling infill which creates a moiré effect comprising: a first opaque layer having a plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough, said first layer adapted to be connected to a ceiling grid; a second opaque layer spaced apart from said first layer and having a plurality of openings adapted to allow light to pass therethrough, said second layer adapted to be connected to said ceiling grid; said first layer includes a top side and a bottom side, wherein said top side of said first layer includes a light diffusing layer.
