We claim: 1. A method of examining contents of an object, comprising: configuring a plurality of radiation sources to scan an object with respective radiation beams, wherein at least certain of the radiation beams only partially overlap at least certain other radiation beams on a detector after transmission through the object; scanning the object with a first set of non-overlapping radiation beams at a first time; detecting each of the first set of radiation beams by the detector, after transmission through the object; scanning the object with a second set of non-overlapping radiation beams different from the first set, at a second time different from the first time; and detecting each of the second set of radiation beams by the detector, after transmission through the object. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of radiation sources are positioned in a line and adjacent sources generate radiation beams that overlap, the method comprising: scanning the object by the first set of radiation beams generated by first alternating radiation sources, at the first time; and scanning the object by the second set of radiation beams generated by second, different alternating radiation sources, at the second time. 3. The method of claim 2, further comprising: moving the first and second alternating radiation sources during scanning. 4. The method of claim 3, comprising: moving the first and second alternating radiation sources along an arc. 5. The method of claim 4, comprising: moving the first and second alternating radiation sources only partially around the object. 6. The method of claim 4, wherein the detector is arcuate. 7. The method of claim 4, further comprising: generating computed tomographic images of at least a portion of the object, based, at least in part, on the detected radiation. 8. The method of claim 3, further comprising: moving the first and second alternating radiation sources in steps. 9. The method of claim 3, wherein the detector is stationary. 10. The method of claim 2, wherein the line is arcuate. 11. The method of claim 1, further comprising: generating at least one image of at least a portion of the object based, at least in part, on the detected radiation. 12. The method of claim 1, further comprising: moving the object between the plurality of sources and the detector. 13. The method of claim 1, wherein the object comprises a cargo container. 14. A radiation scanning system to examine contents of an object, the system comprising: at least one radiation detector; a plurality of radiation sources configured to scan an object with respective radiation beams, wherein at least certain of the radiation beams only partially overlap at least certain other radiation beams on the at least one detector after transmission through the object; a processor coupled to at least certain of the plurality of radiation sources, the processor configured to: cause a first set of the plurality of radiation sources to generate a first set of non-overlapping radiation beams to scan the object at a first time; and cause a second set of the plurality of radiation sources to generate a second set of non-overlapping radiation beams to scan the object at a second time different from the first time. 15. The system of claim 14, wherein: the first and second sets of radiation sources are positioned in a line; adjacent sources generate radiation beams that overlap; and the first set of sources comprise first alternating sources and the second set of sources comprise second alternating sources different from the first alternating sources; wherein the processor is configured to: cause the first set of alternating sources to generate radiation beams at the first time; and cause the second set of alternating sources to generate radiation beams at the second time. 16. The system of claim 15, wherein the line is arcuate. 17. The system of claim 16, further comprising moving means for moving the first and second sets of radiation sources along the arc. 18. The system of claim 17, further comprising: an arcuate rail, wherein the first and second sets of radiation sources are coupled to the rail; and wherein the moving means moves the first and second sets of radiation sources along the rail. 19. The system of claim 17, wherein: the moving means moves the first and second sets of radiation sources only partially around the object. 20. The system of claim 17, wherein the at least one detector is arcuate. 21. The system of claim 20, wherein the at least one detector comprises a plurality of detector modules arranged along an arc. 22. A radiation scanning system to examine contents of an object, the system comprising: at least one radiation detector; a first radiation source configured to scan an object with a first radiation beam; a second, different radiation source configured to scan the object with a second radiation beam; moving means for moving the first and second radiation sources with respect to the object; and a processor configured to: cause the first radiation source to generate the first radiation beam at a first plurality of times, as the first radiation source is moved with respect to the object, and cause the second radiation source to generate the second radiation beam at a second plurality of times different than the first plurality of times, as the second radiation source is moved with respect to the object; wherein the first radiation beam is received by the at least one radiation detector in a respective one of a plurality of first regions after transmission through the object at each of the first plurality of times, the second radiation beam is received by the at least one detector in a respective one of a plurality of second regions after transmission through the object at each of the second plurality of times, adjacent first and second regions only partially overlap in respective overlapping regions, and data is collected by the at least one detector from both radiation beams in each overlapping region. 23. A method of examining contents of an object, comprising: configuring a first radiation source to scan an object with a first radiation beam and a second, different radiation source to scan an object with a second radiation beam; scanning the object with the first radiation beam generated by the first radiation source at a plurality of first times, while moving the first radiation source with respect to the object; detecting the first radiation beam by at least one radiation detector in a respective one of a plurality of first regions at each of the first plurality of times, after interaction with the object; scanning the object with the second radiation beam generated by the second radiation source at a plurality of second times different from the plurality of first times, while moving the second radiation source with respect to the object; and detecting the second radiation beam by the at least one detector in a respective one of a plurality of second regions at each of the second plurality of times, after interaction with the object, wherein adjacent first and second regions of the at least one detector only partially overlap in respective overlapping regions, and data is collected from both radiation beams in the overlapping region.
